Cardano Foundation announces its delegation methodology - CLOSED

If you’re only relying on CF to delegate to you to survive (with not even 25k at stake), you’ve unfortunately understood PoS completely wrong, staking can also be done in delegation mode if there isnt a strategy or marketing to gain stake at all.

Thanks for your response. I’m new and definitely still have alot to learn, I was just excited about the tech piece. Maybe I can find other ways to contribute. Thanks.

@adatainment I received delegation on January 7th but then it was removed / re-delegated only a few weeks later and was wondering if my pool made an error or did anything wrong? My understanding is that the delegation would last for roughly 3 months although I may be mistaken, and as far as I know I fulfilled all the requirements at the time of receiving the delegation up until the removal. Anyways just curious if you have any insight - thanks!

probably you are talking about CF delegation program (15M which you will receive only for 1 Month)?

the 3.2M IOHK delegation (for 3Months) started on 5 Feb!

Cheers,

Ah cool, ok got it. :+1:

Hi adatainment

It seems my pool [BPRL] meets all requirements:

  • Hold between ₳25,000 and ₳2mn as a pledge,
    50k
  • Operated by a stakepool operator that only runs one pool (difficult to verify but best effort attempt),
    BPRL is the only one
  • Have a normal operating cost of less than 5% variable rate, and a fixed rate of around ₳340,
We are at 340 and 1% (try to be as minimal as possible)
  • Have validated blocks successfully in the past,
BPRL minted 6 blocks at the current date
  • Have not been delegated to by the Cardano Foundation in the last four rounds.
    Never

Have I missed something?
Really thank you in advance for your support. Just wanted to verify if all requirements were met.

Hi. We’ve been in the game for a few months now & patiently hoping for a little support by Cardano.
As we understand, we’ve been fullfilling all requirements for a while now.
Anything else we need to do or just wait, resp. keep going?
We just want to doublecheck & make sure, we don’t miss anything out.

Best regards,
ADA Suisse [SUI]

I agree with @EuropeanADApool, the minimum pledge of 25K ADA is now a lot more money. In most cases newer pool operators acquired their ADA more recently and not at $0.20 or less. Is there any consideration to lower the entry amount or potentially spread the investment around once the K parameter changes?

Anxiously waiting for the announcement on the next Delegation. Thank you Cardano Foundation. Hope we get in.

The 25k pledge is now pretty hard to achieve for small operators, here at Pluto we’ve got 10k together which we think is pretty good considering our size.

Perhaps it will be adjusted in the future to compensate for price?

Hello @bicep_pool

I think it is important to mention that the original strategy in this thread (first post) has been adapted over time.

The latest delegation strategy: Cardano Foundation announces its delegation methodology - #103 by Cardano-Foundation

Most important points from the video:
Instead of only ten delegations with a huge amount of ada, we moved to 46 delegations with 15 million ada per pool. The delegation rotates “most probably on a monthly bases” - this means the three or five epochs are not set in stone.

The CF delegation moved near the end of epoch 245 that epoch ended 4th of feb.
It has been in those selected pools since then.

Meaning:
36 days have passed per my calendar that is longer than 1 month…
Current epoch is 253 - so that will mean 8 epochs compared to two previous durations of 5.

So has there been a change in delegation methodology or has the ball been dropped?

It is imperative the system is fair and just for all!!

How do we become eligible / enter for the next round?
Cheers,

My question is, in the previous round, why my pool only got 5 epochs? In the current round, it’s already 8 epochs. Both the previous round and the current round is 15 million delegations. I see some inconsistency here and no transparency about why this and why that? :man_shrugging:

Getting a pledge of 25k now feels unrealistic for new pools now to get a change. Our Node performance is 100%, but the rest feels like an impossible mission at this point, and probably will not get any easier ;(

@Viper_Stake-Pool adafolio.com says that viperstakepool is in control of the Cardano Foundation Delegation portfolio. It has not been updated in over a month, since the new delegation occurred.

  1. Are you using this as a way to promote additional delegation after the end of the period. For example once CF moves to a new set of pools is when you update the portfolio to show the prior pools?
  2. Was this just missed and left on the prior delegations for twice as long as it should have been?

I’d love to understand if the answer is #1 or #2. If #2 do you have a plan or are the SPO’s from this current period just going to lose out on being part of a portfolio and being exposed to more delegators?

Thanks

It would be great to get some form of update on this…

We just created portfolios for each of the groups of pools that received CF delegations. We’ll continue to update this in the future (I’m now subscribed to this thread, so I’ll be notified of the future delegation changes). Here are the current 5 groups:
Cardano Foundation Delegation Group 1
Cardano Foundation Delegation Group 2
Cardano Foundation Delegation Group 3
Cardano Foundation Delegation Group 4
Cardano Foundation Delegation Group 5

Hello @lordwotton,

I wrote it only a few posts earlier, but I want to make it clearer in this post: We cannot currently guarantee a specific number of epochs on a permanent basis because it is simply not possible to ensure the effort required to delegate more than 45 wallets in a 5-day window. (it should be clear to everyone that such amounts cannot be controlled by one person alone. This means several people have to come together, not online, but physical, and many checks and balances have to be carried out - a process where you have to make sure that nothing goes wrong)

It’s a little different than if you or I re-delegate a wallet on Saturday night with some ada in it, while pooltool.io is open in another tab.

That’s why we have to say the delegations are “about a month”, probably longer in the future but this is not decided yet, as far as I know.
