Daedalus Cardano node is not responding / cannot connect?

Hi. When opening Daedalus, the following steps can’t complete:

  • Replaying ledger from on-disk blockchain (always gets stuck at 8.54%)
  • Syncing blockchain (always stuck at 61.38%)

Icons at the bottom say:

  • Cardano node is not responding
  • Checking if Cardano node time is correct
  • Cardano node is not syncing

Diagnostics show the following:

Daedalus version is 5.4.0 and I’m on a Macbook Air M3.

Any idea?

Is there a reason you are using Daedalus? If you don’t care about full node wallet, i would suggest you to use a litewallet like Typhon and simply restore your wallet there.

In case you wanna stick to Daedalus, i would recommand to reach out to the IOG zendesk. https://iohk.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

Hello @thojanssens1

Did you get Macbook Air M3 with 16GB of RAM? Many Macbook Air M3 versions come with only 8GB of RAM and small SSD (256GB). Not enough to run a full node wallet.
MacAir

Also, are you sure you need full node wallet instead of just a regular wallet?

From what info you posted the issues could be anything. Bad internet connection, not enough RAM, not enough storage, other apps running in the background, etc…

If you need to access your Ada quickly you can use multiple wallets apps for the same wallet. For example I have a wallet that I access with both Daedalus and Yoroi.

@Zyroxa Thank you I guess I will switch wallets.

Feel free to ask for help if you are unsure how to do it.

I have an additional question. There are wallets used though Chrome extensions. Are those really safe?

Id say they are not safer/less safe than a web wallet or a local installation wallet.

I would suggest to you, that you are using a well known wallet like Typhon, Eternl or Lace.

You can also check here List of Wallets - Support FAQ for alot of other options.

In general you can say if you care about safety, you definitly should get a hardware wallet like a Ledger, Trezor or Keystone.
