# Do you need a website URL to create a stake pool?

Or can you put in a URL that doesn’t point to an actual page just yet (in the pool metadata.json)?  
E.g.,

> “homepage”: “[https://website-that-doesnt-exist-just-yet.io](https://website-that-doesnt-exist-just-yet.io)”

U will need a valid path/url for the metadata.json file
