Important Announcement about the Incentivized Testnet: Balance Check (November 12)

Over the past few months, we’ve been rolling out our Shelley testnet. We’re now heading into the third and final phase before Shelley goes live on mainnet: an Incentivized Testnet that all ada holders can join to earn real ada rewards. The next step in this rollout is the Balance Check - happening next Tuesday, November 12 at 12:00PM UTC.

The balance check is a practice run ahead of the official balance snapshot, currently targeted for later in November. The balance check will enable users to validate that the value of their mainnet ada balance has been accurately captured, in preparation for the real thing.

Participation in the balance check is optional. Users who do not take part will still be able to join the program later in the month. However, it is an excellent opportunity to make sure your ada balance is in one of the supported wallets and can be accurately recorded before the official balance snapshot.

For more information on the Incentivized Testnet program, read IOHK’s blog post - Incentivized Testnet: what it is and how to get involved.

If you’re interested in taking part in the Balance Check…

You will need to make sure your ada is in Daedalus or Yoroi before it takes place. Ada on exchanges, hardware wallets or third-party wallets will not be captured.

Watch the tutorial videos below on how to move your ada to the supported wallets. But please make sure you are aware of the risks of moving funds from secure hardware devices and exchanges, and do so at your own risk.

On the official website, the description for ‘What is Cardano?’ should be updated as it’s almost similar to the description for ‘What is Shelley?’

It appears after the section ’ What is Stake and Stake Delegation?’

Hey @hKedia
Thanks for flagging. This was a queued change, and is now reflected in the website
