I have a question about node uptime/availability…once Shelley is completely released, if I ran a single node, could ensure near 100% power availability and addressed any other environmental factors that would contribute to as perfect uptime as possible, how do I deal with any outages due to needing to patch my underlying operating system, or upgrade the node software?

@Megawind could answer this question if he was around, seems to me that you would need to be setup to transfer to another temporary node while you maintained your system, would be nice to see how others are preparing for such an event.
