Scammed - Lost all our ADA

Almost fell for this scam after first major ADA purchase. But unlike those that fell for it, I quickly did my research to make sure this wasn’t a scam. Luckily, I ran into Charles’ YT and saw he mentioned he NEVER gives away free ada.

Thanks, I will include the IP address whenever I alert the registrar about a scamming web site.

The scam is currently live again… Almost 20k people watching :frowning: hope nobody is falling for it…
Is there anything else than reporting it, that I could do?

Here are your choices, still «within the confines of the law»

  • report to domain name registrar
  • report to network operator / shared hosting company
  • report to the Cardano Foundation
  • report to law enforcement

And of course report to YouTube if it’s a YT channel. Each choice having its own benefits/disadvantages…

Same here

I got scammed all my ADA (7871 ADA) in this ADA youtube channel with 300K followers.

I am dumb, probably yes. But we get free ADA by staking without restrictions, we get free ADA by voting, this scam is not that crazy, they were asking to go for the final push of Cardano and the wide adoption.

I can’t speak for their efficacy but if you want, you can file a complaint at the e-mail address you will get on the Russian Embassy in the UK website, here is an excerpt of the page :

ATTENTION SCAM VICTIMS

If you feel that you became a victim of a scam from the territory of the Russian Federation, please do not hesitate to file a complaint (translated into Russian) to the Cyber Crime Prevention Department (Department “K”) of the Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation by e-mail: press@cybercop.ru or by conventional post on the following address: Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation, 119049 Russia, Moscow, Zhitnaya St., 16, or Ministry’s Public Liaison Office, Russia, Moscow, Sadovaya-Sukharevskaya St., 11, tel: + 7 (495) 667-22-21; and keep on communicating with it until the investigation is completed.

+ You might want to send the scammer wallet address to the CF for further action (do not expect getting the Ada back, though).

I’m on YouTube this very moment and see 3 Cardano “Live” feeds with Charles Hoskinson speaking. All 3 YouTube channels are promoting the same double your ADAs just by sending your ADAs to the addresses. The links, channels, logos, etc are so well done too and look legit. BE CAREFUL! I’m so glad I found this forum. I almost fell for it too.

Thanks, but unfortunately the email does not work.

Your message wasn’t delivered to press@cybercop.ru because the address couldn’t be found, or is unable to receive mail.

Anyway, many thanks!

Oh, ok, unfortunate indeed. Your only option then is using the aforementioned postal address, this one hasn’t changed as you can see by yourself on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. Or you can get in touch with law enforcement in your jurisdiction and let them contact their Russian counterpart (Russia is a member of Interpol). Many hackers have been arrested there these last years. Maybe less scammers by lack of a formal complaint, after all they rely on the victim’s shame & guilt not to file a complaint, as on misconceptions about a de facto immunity. But scam is not more legal there than it is here.

The youtube account is registered to 5040011@mail.ru
If I search this email adres I found out that its linked to a VK account (Vladimir Kulev | VK) with a guy called Vladimir Koelev that lives in Егорьевск Russia (near Moskou).
This is the same name in the youtube link /user/VladimirKulev/about.
I also found out that the same guy has a facebook profile (twisttvasmr)
Maybe contact russian authorities? but how?

Do u think he/she wrote the real name?
I understood that all these stollen money (most of them) are withdraw through binance … and binance is suspectet for money laundering… maybe the exchanges can take actions for those wallets

why is the youtube registered emailadres linked to a person? why would he do that? probably a stupid mistake of the scammer?

I will be happy if this is true…

Provided you can give them proof that one of their wallet addresses has been part of a scam, I don’t see why they wouldn’t freeze the corresponding assets, at least long enough to investigate and/or check with law enforcement. Since it’s probably a violation of their terms of service.

Wouldn’t be surprised, few scammers are brilliant, if any… All that’s required is a few social skills regarding manipulation and no pride whatsoever.

Good man Raph, i was getting so down seeing all the people on Cardano fb blame the victims of crime, faith in humans slightly restored

LOL, that website looks like a joke/scam. It cannot possibly be a goverment site, or some law enforcement site. I hope they enforce better than their official webdesigner designes websites.

I’m sorry!
