Shelley Testnet: Your weekly rollout rollup. Week 13: W/E 20th September 2019

Week 13: W/E 20th September 2019

Each week, this is where we’ll share a high-level summary of key achievements and what’s been going on in the program. Remember, for the very latest technical updates you can follow all the commits and pull requests in the community GitHub.

If you are not already part of the conversation, you’ll find a hive of activity over at the stake pool Best Practice Telegram. With over 2,200 members and loads of engaged users, this is a great resource for anyone interested in contributing to the program. Continued thanks to everyone from the community, especially our amazing Ambassadors.

What’s up

It’s been a while since the last release as the team has been focused on implementing decentralisation features and bug fixes. This week, we made two releases in two days. The first was v0.3.1415 but thanks to the community, we found a bug very quickly and swiftly provided a fix in the new release, v0.3.9999.

The peer discovery is taking shape and has started to be integrated. Network components are now in place and are being tested by our QA team. Besides the network to API stability, one of the new features we have been working on is adding GraphQL and an explorer mode. This is still very early in the development but we thought the developer community would appreciate that we are moving to provide more industry-standard interfaces.

Documentation & content

The team have started writing the content for the networked testnet website and held sessions with the development team and QA and others during the week to work through questions and increase their understanding of the functionality. Some content has been written and is in review and more detailed how-to instructions around the network components will be written over the coming days. Resources and supplementary information is also being gathered by the team.

Community Content
Please note, these community resources are shared in good faith for you to use at your own discretion. You’ll always find ‘official’ documentation and instructions within IOHK & Cardano channels.

  • Community member Marek Mahut wrote an article with how to use Nightly packages to get hold of the very latest fixes and updates as they land on the repository. Please note, as the article states: this is very experimental code and is not supported by IOHK – but feel free to take a look here.

That’s it for now!

Thanks
