Transfer of ADA from T-Zero to a wallet

Sorry if this post has been repeated somewhere. I am new to searching topics but don’t see it. I own a small amount of Cardano. I need to move my ADA from my T-Zero account and put it somewhere. I suppose a wallet vs another exchange?

I have transferred my other crypto from T-Zero on my Coinbase Wallet and it transferred easily, but I am getting mixed messages about whether ADA can transfer to Coinbase Wallet.

I would like info or thoughts on:

  1. WHETHER I can actually transfer ADA to Coinbase Wallet?
  2. If this is a good place to store it if I am more comfortable with a hot wallet than any other type of wallet?
  3. Other options you might suggest for storing it easily if I don’t want to pay for Leger or Trezor and would prefer to have it in a hot wallet (mobile device)

places I’ve considered moving it to include Daedelus, Bittrex, Binance, Yoroi… but I know nothing about these places. I’ve no experience using any of them.
Thank you for any guidance you can offer.

Hi,

  1. WHETHER I can actually transfer ADA to Coinbase Wallet?

Yes, you can… first time send a small amount like 2-3 ADA for test

  1. If this is a good place to store it if I am more comfortable with a hot wallet than any other type of wallet?

Yes and No

  1. Other options you might suggest for storing it easily if I don’t want to pay for Leger or Trezor and would prefer to have it in a hot wallet (mobile device)

Yoroi, eternl, ccvault, (and many other) can be used to access the funds. As long you will bkp the seed words and you will keep it safe (don’t share it) you should be fine

Cheers,

Thank you so much for the reply! Can you tell me what (in your opinion) are the cons of storing it on Coinbase Wallet?

Thank you again

The only things is that you don’t have the keys for the wallet (not your keys not your wallet) and also u can’t delegate ur funds to receive rewards…

I will.

Thank you!

Ehm, Coinbase Wallet seems to be a self-custody wallet app: https://www.coinbase.com/wallet

Edit: But I just tested it. It is a pure Ethereum wallet app. You cannot manage ADA on Cardano with it.

Does that mean I can’t actually store it there?… or does it mean that I can store it there but not do anything with it from there?

That it is a pure Ethereum wallet means that you cannot store native ADA there!

from coinbase page

How do I store Cardano?

You can hold ADA on Coinbase, in Coinbase Wallet, and using a number of crypto exchanges and wallets.

but as u said probably u can’t manage (move) only buy/sell

Have you tested it?

If I connect Ledger to the browser extension, I only get Ethereum (and Ethereum-based networks like BNB, Polygon, Ethereum Classic, …). If I import with seed phrase, I additionally get Solana.

On the mobile app, there additionally are Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Doge, Litecoin, Stellar and XRP.

But Cardano is nowhere to be seen.

Thank you all! That’s what I had found. That there are posts out there that say you can store it in Coinbase but if it’s THAT hard to figure out, I probably don’t want it there. I’m downloading Yoroi now.
I’ll update when I’ve accomplished this.

Pity… I was really liking/comfortable with T-Zero.

But good to branch out and learn a bit more about this crypto-world.

1.download yoroi
2.create wallet
3.bkp seed words
4.send 3 ADA for test
5.delete the wallet
6.restore using the seed words
7.if everything is fine send the rest of the ADA

Cheers,

Thanks! Just did that.
