Event Information
As part of a six-week training series, Cardano Builder Meetup Online #1 was successfully held on March 15, 2025, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM (GMT+7) via Zoom, attracting 370 Registrations, over 150 participants.
The event is part of the “Cardano Blockchain Programming Training for Beginner Developers”, organized by Cardano Vietnam. The program is fully funded to support the Vietnamese developer community in learning how to build on the Cardano blockchain.
Meetup Schedule: Every Saturday evening from March 15 to April 19, 2025

Main Topics of the First Session
The first session introduced foundational concepts in blockchain programming and Cardano architecture, aimed at beginner developers:
Offchain & Onchain Code and Programming Languages
- Introduction to the distinction between offchain code (e.g., frontend logic, APIs) and onchain code (smart contracts deployed to the blockchain).
- Overview of languages commonly used in Cardano: Haskell, Plutus, TypeScript, and Lucid.
Hash Functions
- Understanding what a hash is, how it is generated, and its role in verifying data integrity in blockchain systems.
Cryptography Basics
- Introduction to asymmetric encryption, public/private key usage, and digital signatures.
- Real-world use cases and how cryptographic techniques secure Cardano transactions.
UTXO vs. Account-Based Models
- Explanation of the Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO) model, how it compares to the account model used in blockchains like Ethereum.
EUTXO Model in Cardano
- Introduction to Extended UTXO (EUTXO), a unique model used by Cardano that expands on the traditional UTXO system, enabling more complex and secure smart contracts.
Key Q&A Topics
The session featured an engaging Q&A, where beginner developers raised insightful questions:
- Why does the sender need to share both cleartext and an encrypted hash?
- How does asymmetric encryption allow secure message exchange using different key pairs?
- Are “seed phrase = private key” and “wallet address = public key”?
- Can someone with your public key decrypt your data?
- Why doesn’t the course use Solidity like Ethereum?
- Will the course use Haskell, TypeScript, and Lucid for Cardano development?
- Can data on block explorers be exposed?
All these questions were addressed clearly to help beginners understand the underlying mechanics of Cardano’s architecture and smart contract security.
Networking & Community Engagement
Although the meetup was held online, it attracted lively participation and discussion from a wide range of attendees. The Telegram group remained active after the session, with participants continuing to ask questions and share insights.
Reflections & Appreciation
The first session of the Cardano Builder Online Meetup Series started off strong, demonstrating the community’s enthusiasm for learning and building on Cardano.
We sincerely thank all participants and look forward to seeing you again in the next session!
