Meetup Recap – Cardano Builder Series Meetup #8: The Next Step

Overview
The eighth installment of the Cardano Builder Series, titled “The Next Step,” took place on March 21, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City.
Organized by Cardano Vietnam x Over Guild, the meetup served as both a reflection on Cardano’s journey and a forward-looking session on the future of development at the intersection of Web3 and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Meetup Highlights
- Total registrations: 31 participants
- Audience: A diverse mix of experienced Cardano builders, AI enthusiasts, and tech founders
- Engagement: Strong interest during the live AI-assisted smart contract demonstration
Key takeaway:
The learning curve for building on Cardano is rapidly shrinking. With AI-assisted workflows, builders can now shift from learning syntax to designing scalable architectures much faster.
1. From Foundations to the Next Step
The meetup opened with a reflection on Cardano’s evolution:
- From its academic, peer-reviewed origins (Byron, Shelley)
- To scaling and performance (Basho)
- To decentralized governance (Voltaire)
This journey highlights a key transition:
The infrastructure is ready — the next step depends on builders.
2. Ecosystem Evolution & AI as a Catalyst
The keynote session provided a clear view of how Cardano’s architecture has matured to support real-world applications.

The Foundation:
Technologies such as eUTXO, Hydra, and Midnight have established a strong base for secure, scalable, and privacy-enabled dApps -
The Challenge:
Developing secure smart contracts using Plutus/Aiken has traditionally required significant time and expertise -
The Shift:
AI is now transforming this process by:- Automating boilerplate code
- Supporting debugging and validation
- Simplifying complex development workflows
3. Hands-on: Building with AI on Cardano
A key highlight of the meetup was the hands-on workshop led by OverGuild.
Participants experienced:
- An AI assistant trained on Cardano documentation, Aiken architecture, and eUTXO design patterns
- Generating validator scripts using natural language prompts
- Debugging concurrency issues in real time
Outcome:
Participants who had previously struggled with Aiken were able to compile functional smart contracts in a short time, guided step-by-step by AI.
This demonstrated a clear shift:
From writing code manually → to orchestrating development with AI.
4. OverGuild Builder Hub & Ecosystem Vision
The meetup also introduced OverGuild’s broader vision of building a long-term ecosystem for Web3 talent.
Key ideas included:
- AI agents supporting not only coding, but also community management and onboarding
- A Learn-to-Earn system combined with AI mentorship
- The concept of a 24/7 AI-powered learning environment for builders
This approach aims to significantly accelerate onboarding and reduce friction for new developers entering the Cardano ecosystem.
Community Reflections
The feedback from participants was highly forward-looking.

A key insight emerged:
The combination of Cardano’s strong security model and AI acceleration tools creates a significant competitive advantage for builders—especially in emerging markets like Vietnam—to participate in the global Web3 ecosystem.
