Meetup Recap – Cardano Builder Series Meetup #7: Let’s Go On-Chain

Venue: Beanthere Cafe, District 10

The seventh installment of the Cardano Builder Series took place on January 17, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City. Organized by Over Guild x Cardano Vietnam, this meetup shifted the focus from backend development to front-end adoption.

The central idea of the session was simple:
adoption does not happen in the IDE, but in the wallet.

Instead of technical deep dives, the meetup concentrated on the end-user journey, using a gamified approach to help participants move from abstract blockchain concepts to their first on-chain transaction.

:small_blue_diamond: Key Highlights

  • Total registrations: 48
  • Demographics: Students, Web2 users exploring Web3, and UI/UX designers
  • Engagement: 100% of attendees created a wallet and completed at least one on-chain transaction
  • Community takeaway: With proper guidance, DeFi concepts become approachable for new users. The OverGuild Quest System was used as an onboarding framework for non-crypto-native participants.

1. Opening

The session opened in an interactive and active setting. Unlike typical coding workshops, participants were engaged in real-time actions such as wallet setup, swaps, and transaction confirmations.

The organizers emphasized that Cardano’s growth depends not only on builders, but also on informed and confident users. The goal of Meetup #7 was to reduce the hesitation many newcomers feel when interacting with blockchain systems for the first time.

2. Keynote Session — Gamifying Education with OverGuild

Topic: Learn-to-Earn & The Quest Model

This session introduced the OverGuild platform as a structured learning environment that accompanies users throughout their onboarding journey.

Key points covered:

  • The problem: Core blockchain concepts such as epochs, UTXOs, and on-chain mechanics are often too abstract for beginners.
  • The approach: OverGuild breaks these concepts into short, task-based “quests,” allowing users to learn by doing rather than by reading documentation.
  • The mechanism: Completing on-chain educational tasks translates into progress, reputation, and rewards within the OverGuild ecosystem.

3. Hands-on Session — The “On-Chain” Quest

The hands-on workshop formed the core of the meetup. Participants used their own devices to complete a live sequence of quests guided by the OverGuild platform:

  1. Identity: Creating a Cardano wallet (Lace, Yoroi, or Vespr) and securing seed phrases.
  2. Funding: Receiving small amounts of ADA via a live airdrop to cover transaction fees.
  3. DEX interaction (AMM): Performing a token swap on Minswap, learning about slippage and liquidity pools.
  4. DEX interaction (Order Book): Placing limit orders on Danogo to understand how Cardano’s eUTXO model supports order-book-style trading on-chain.

Special Feature — From “Zero” to On-Chain User

Several learning moments emerged during the workshop:

  • Participants tracked their progress visually through the OverGuild dashboard.
  • Experiences between Minswap (AMM-based DeFi) and Danogo (order-book-based DeFi) were compared, particularly in terms of speed and transaction fees.
  • After completing the required tasks, participants claimed a “Quest Completed” badge, marking their transition from observers to active on-chain users.

4. Community Reflection

The meetup highlighted the importance of user experience (UX) in blockchain adoption. Participants left not only with a wallet installed, but with practical confidence to continue exploring the Cardano ecosystem independently.

The session demonstrated how a structured, guided onboarding process can help convert initial curiosity into direct on-chain participation.

5. Acknowledgement

The organizers would like to thank the Cardano Foundation and Project Catalyst for their continued support of community education and grassroots onboarding initiatives.

We also sincerely thank all participants and members of the local Cardano community who took the time to join, learn, and complete their first on-chain interactions during this meetup.

Community-led sessions like this rely on shared participation, feedback, and willingness to learn together, and Meetup #7 would not have been possible without that collective effort.
