Empowering the Cardano Community in Africa: A Summary of the 7th July Catalyst Africa Town Hall

Farming on the Blockchain

The Catalyst Africa Town Hall on the 7th of July, 2023, was truly remarkable! We had an amazing time introducing ourselves and hearing about the incredible things individuals are doing on the Cardano blockchain. It was inspiring to see so many passionate people engaged in P2P trading and making a positive impact.

One of the highlights was watching a heartwarming close-out report video of a winning proposal from Project Catalyst’s Grow Africa Grow Cardano Challenge set. The project aimed to transform coffee farming in Kanye using technology and a decentralized app. This would ensure traceability and fair payment for farmers, cutting out middlemen and corruption, and ultimately empowering local farmers and improving the export process.

The personal stories shared by Madam Afia and Nathaniel, both policymakers, were eye-opening. They discussed how well-designed government policies can protect the socioeconomic interests of farmers and promote environmental conservation. Their insights gave us valuable food for thought.

The meeting was truly one of a kind, bringing together passionate individuals, successful projects, and meaningful discussions. It’s heartwarming to witness the positive impact Cardano is having on African communities. The Catalyst Africa Town Hall continues to be a powerful platform for collaboration, learning, and driving positive change. Can’t wait for the next one!
