From Cardano Participant to Builder: A Tool for ADA Staking Rewards

Hi everyone :waving_hand:

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit of my journey with Cardano.

My name Finn, I’ve been around the Cardano ecosystem since 2021, first as a curious newcomer and later as a long-term supporter. Over the years I’ve invested in ADA, staked consistently, and also used part of my holdings to support and invest in other Cardano-native projects. Like many here, I’ve enjoyed watching the ecosystem mature and grow.

What truly made Cardano stick for me is the Cardano way — the research-driven approach, the strong focus on correctness and security, the increasing emphasis on privacy, and the fact that the ecosystem is ultimately community-governed. Those values resonate deeply with me, and I know I’m far from alone in that.

Along the way, I ran into a practical challenge that I suspect others may recognize as well:
it was surprisingly difficult to get a clear overview of total staking rewards earned over a year, especially when combined with historical fiat values. For tax reporting and personal tracking, I needed not only the ADA amounts, but also the exchange rate at the exact time rewards were paid out.

I explored several tools — both free and paid — and while some came close, they often required a fair amount of manual work. I also discovered pooltool(dot)io, which is a great resource, but I still found myself doing more manual processing than I wanted.

That’s what pushed me to ask a simple question:
Could I build something that’s more straightforward, more automated, and tailored to the overview I personally needed?

After quite a bit of learning, experimenting, and refining, I finally managed to publish a tool that solves this problem for me. More importantly, it feels like a meaningful way to give back to the Cardano ecosystem that I’ve benefited from over the years.

The tool can be found here: https://adarewards.tax

A few things the site currently focuses on:

  • Clear overview of staking rewards per epoch and per year
  • Historical fiat value based on exchange rates at payout time
  • Historical fiat value based on year-end exchange rates (useful for accounting and reporting)
  • Simple, no-nonsense interface focused on clarity
  • Built specifically with Cardano staking mechanics in mind
  • Export rewards history

This tool has already been a big help for me personally, and my hope is that it can also be useful to others in the community — especially those trying to make sense of rewards and reporting without unnecessary complexity.
The tool have been live for just a few months, before that I had it running locally.

I’m very much open to feedback, suggestions, and ideas for improvement. If something feels unclear, missing, or could be done better, I’d genuinely love to hear it.

Thanks for taking the time to read, and thank you all for being part of such a thoughtful and welcoming ecosystem :folded_hands:

Wow, I’m genuinely impressed that someone thought of building such a useful and important tool like your adarewards app.
I’ve personally just tested it and already see strong value for my own use, as it now gives me a clear overview of my staking rewards across specific periods that I can choose myself.

That said, I was wondering whether it would be possible to add a feature that also shows the stake pool to which one is currently delegating, directly within the app.

For now, though, I believe what you’ve already built is excellent.

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to test the tool, and provide me with some valuable feedback.
That should definitely be possible to add the current stakepool that your stake is delegated to.
I’ll work on that.

Very well… and above all, congratulations and much courage to you for the great work accomplished.
