From Onboarding to Participation: Recap of the First DR Congo Community Call

On 26 May 2026, Goma Hub officially launched the DR Congo Community Call, a monthly community initiative designed to strengthen engagement, coordination, and participation within the French-speaking Cardano community in DR Congo.

More than just a discussion space, the initiative aims to create a consistent bridge between students, builders, entrepreneurs, and community contributors, while improving access to ecosystem opportunities, governance updates, educational resources, and participation pathways.

Background and Context

The DR Congo Community Call is the continuation of a broader community-building effort started by Goma Hub in 2023 through its onboarding program focused on Web3 and Cardano education.

Through monthly educational activities and cohort-based learning sessions, the initiative introduced young entrepreneurs, students, and professionals to blockchain technology and the Cardano ecosystem.

Since 2023:

  • More than 300 individuals have been onboarded into Web3 and Cardano
  • Over 15 cohorts have been organized
  • Multiple educational and community engagement sessions have been conducted

While onboarding helped introduce many people to the ecosystem, an important challenge remained: maintaining long-term engagement and helping community members move from learning to active participation.

The DR Congo Community Call was created to address that gap by providing a recurring and accessible community space where ecosystem discussions, opportunities, and updates can continuously be shared.

Why This Initiative Matters

As the ecosystem continues evolving, access to information, governance discussions, and participation opportunities remains uneven across regions, especially for French-speaking and underrepresented communities.

Many local community members are interested in contributing, learning, and participating more actively, but often lack:

  • consistent access to ecosystem updates,
  • structured follow-up after onboarding,
  • visibility on participation pathways,
  • and spaces for regular community interaction.

This initiative aims to reduce those barriers while helping local participants become more connected, informed, and involved within the broader ecosystem.

First Edition – 26 May 2026

The inaugural session gathered more than 40 participants, including students, developers, entrepreneurs, and community contributors.

Key Updates Shared During the Session

Cardano Governance & Community

Ecosystem Programs & Education

Ecosystem Opportunities

Presentation slides and session materials have also been made available to allow community members to revisit the discussions and shared updates.

Community Signals & Observations

The discussions and interactions during the session revealed several important signals from the local community.

There is a growing demand for:

  • more consistent educational and ecosystem sessions,
  • simplified governance and funding education,
  • clearer participation pathways,
  • and stronger local coordination.

The session also highlighted the strong interest of young students, developers, and entrepreneurs in becoming more active contributors within the ecosystem.

More importantly, the discussions showed a clear transition from simple onboarding toward a stronger culture of participation and contribution.

Strategic Direction Going Forward

The DR Congo Community Call will continue as a structured monthly initiative organized at the end of each month to maintain continuity and long-term engagement within the Cardano. The initiative will evolve progressively based on community feedback, ecosystem developments, and the needs observed during each session. The broader vision is to strengthen local ecosystem coordination, improve access to participation opportunities, and support the transition of community members in DR Congo from learning to active contribution within the global ecosystem.

:date: The next session will take place on 23 June 2026. To stay updated and receive notifications about upcoming sessions, please subscribe to the Goma Hub Luma page, where all future events will be published.

Conclusion

The launch of the DR Congo Community Call represents an important step in strengthening community coordination and long-term participation in DR Congo.

Beyond onboarding, the initiative aims to help build a more connected, informed, and active community capable of engaging with governance, education, ecosystem programs, and future opportunities within the Cardano.

The strong participation and engagement observed during this first session confirmed both the relevance of the initiative and the growing interest for more community-driven activities across the region.

Yeah, I still remember when I first joined Goma Hub as a learner, not knowing much about Cardano. Being now among the presenters for our very first DR Congo Community Call feels like a full-circle moment. 40+ participants, real discussions about governance, Midnight, and Safrochain – this is proof that local communities can drive global adoption. Thank you to everyone who trusted us and showed up. The best is yet to come.
