Future of transaction fees

It appears to me that Ada transaction fees are approx 10 % or .1 Ada for 1 Ada. I understand they want to prevent spamming the network but isn’t that excessive ? Currently BTC is facing backlash due to exorbitant transaction fees. If Ada becomes valued at 10 USD then it will cost 2 dollars per Ada to send ? How can that compete with legacy banking systems or a coin like Ripple and Stellar ? Will this be adjusted as Ada increases in value ? Is the fee a percentage of the total transaction rather than a fixed amount per transaction ? That would discourage moving larger volume.

ADA has been engineered to avoid the runaway transaction fees like we are seeing with Bitcoin and others. Read more here;
