The human budget - a view into Cardano's future

The amount of human resources that have been wasted by large parts of the Cardano community by yelling at people who said anything remotely critical about Intersect, their budget and the at least unprofessional if not absolutely ridiculous processes Intersect or certain people at Intersect have not only come up with, but have been forced onto Cardano and the results it produces, is absolutely astounding.

None of this would be an issue, if Intersect was just one of many MBOs running Cardano, as it was intended in a decentralized network, but this is not the reality we find ourselves in right now.

The people, who have been saying all along what now that Charles said it (check x.com if you missed it) will become the new community sentiment, have been yelled at, ridiculed or even outlawed by the community. They burned themselves out defending their positions against an overwhelming majority of people which now will miraculously come to the same conclusions. Maybe they moved on with their lives, maybe they develop, engage and put in their precious time, hearts and brains into other chains, or even worse, maybe they are just done with it all. The damage however is done.

The effects of this exodus of independent, smart and qualified people away from Cardano is the real issue that needs to be addressed when it comes to Cardano’s future and the budget it will take to make this future a reality.

Cardano can not sustain itself on a community that only understands, realizes or believes things about governance, budgets or even life itself once their fearless leader Charles explains them. This is not how a decentralized network operates, let alone thrives. Alienating people at the rate Cardano has been doing it for years now, comes at great cost: You will have to buy back their knowledge, their time and their interest at a premium. And even then, you will only be able to do so until the money ultimately runs out, because they don’t believe anymore and you really can’t buy love.

I would urge everyone to use this moment to take account of what we have been doing here in the past year(s) and which results it has really produced. Do it alone, do it without outside interference and without a bubble that just echoes its own narratives or straight up peer pressures people into drinking the kool aid because number has to go up and everything that isn’t positive is immediately labeled as FUD. This is a hard and unpleasant thing to do, I can tell you from personal experience, but we all have to do it, if we want Cardano to succeed. Only once we have an idea of where we went wrong, we can start to fix things.

Because no budget ever will make Cardano successful, people will.

Well said!

And please! Think about by whom we were side-lined, ridiculed, and gaslighted!

I remember all too well that Hoskinson smirked and shook his head about people who wanted a more granular treasury withdrawal process and more power for the dReps than this abomination the Intersect “committees” came up with.

I remember all too well Hoskinson sending his minions after the CF because they dared to try to get an alternative proposal – with more details on budget and treasury management – into the considerations of the “convention” (which in the end was just a big marketing stunt, not the least for Hoskinson to cosplay the founder of a “network state”).

I am really disappointed in a community that pretends to do “their own research”, but for some reason follows one single, very questionable person while doing so, including 180° turns like this.

Not that the wider crypto community is much better, but the other communities are at least not focussed that much on one and only one supreme leader.

Well said brother.

I wanted to add this real quick:
While I understand the urge to share, I really meant what I said: Do the reflection alone. Take your time with it. Think on it all.

A remember-the-one-time-my-feelings-got-hurt approach doesn’t do anything and the last thing Cardano needs is re-living drama or another self-help-group where people can talk about their feelings. This is what has gotten us into this mess in the first place: the absolute lack of a truly open minded debate culture, which only works if people can set aside their personal feelings for the greater good for five minutes.

Governance will have no chance at all if people don’t learn how to fight to the death until 5pm and still go for a beer afterwards, because tomorrow is another day. Not only in this regard, but especially in this one, the complete lack of people with political experience on Cardano absolutely shows.
