Unsupported remote target address

So… I’ve managed to sync my relay and BP node to 95%, but I’m suddenly unable to maintain connection with other relay nodes IOHK or others in the public topology list.

I’ve tried a complete rebuild of the node, tried changing the boot address from 0.0.0.0 to public, and back. I’m running a local address on my local BP, and was previously running 0.0.0.0 on my cloud relay. The only change I made while syncing was running the Cashew guide to topology updater, but have since rebuilt. Any suggestions?

Thanks ahead of time.

First, rour BP should only connect yo your own relays, and it should only accept connections from your own relays.

I am running my nodes with listen on 0.0.0.0, so that’s not the issue.

What cardano-node version are you running and on what network (mainnet, public testnet or another testnet)?

The warnings are all for IPv6 addresses. Is it possible that your node does not have IPv6 connectivity?

Other possibility: It seems that if you configure only an IPv4 address, but not an IPv6 address, then IPv6 is completely disabled:

My BP is only connected to my relay, and those two no longer have any issue staying connected when I run the BP node using its local 192.x.x.x IP. The issue is with my cloud relay.

1.34.1 Public testnet

I’ve since rebuilt and did not replace the DB once sync began. It synced to 95% again, but then starts throwing errors again.

I was under the impression when starting the node in 0.0.0.0 it allowed for both IPv4 and IPv6? Does this issue only begin after a 95% sync? Connectivity is fine before that.

1.34.1 is working only before the Vasil Hard Fork. This is why your sync stopped. You need to upgrade to 1.35.2 on the public testnet.

I think it’s two unrelated issues. The "Unsupported remote target address"es will also be there, while your node is syncing, according to everything I read. If you give a host address of 0.0.0.0 (which is IPv4) and no IPv6 host address, it won’t connect to IPv6 addresses. But that is only a minor problem, only warnings, as long as it has other (IPv4) addresses to connect to.

The sync stopping is unrelated and probably what @georgem1976 said.

Ayyy. Now this makes sense. I’ll give that a go

Thanks a ton. This should have been obvious to me, but I appreciate your help. We’re back to syncing and past 95% this time.
