i do really understand who seniors will react with defi and the introduction to technology is not easy i currently living in mexico and talk to ex pats and they don’t believe on anything related with crypto and the reason is because there is absolutely no approach i feel bad because i am part of the generation who has to push developers to care for all again to have INCLUSION is a factor in defi something mayor developers have to understand, Mexican president is given a salary for all seniors no matter who they are, the problem is reach to places where there is no ATM one thing cryptocurrency could reach in remote areas with a small Amount of internet, i do really hope more development on social care and other type of human developing for a better future
the worst and the more sad part is the amount of people who build scams, and zero devolopers are making anything mostly of seniors are agains change and high tech is like people in 3 world countries who they cant trust on cryptocurrency and i can see the multiple reasons is so hard for a person to make a few bucks to lose it all i did my first big lost on my life and all my savings of 15 years went to a deep whole having no way to rescue anything cryptocurrency is growing fast but gold and banks an central authorithys can regulate and make you feel your money is in good hands and have a fisical 1.1 person to deal with problems like humanity should do
The insecurity and scam factors that are going to have to be dealt with in order to make Senior Citizens comfortable enough to place their nest egg into this ecosystem. I can understand the fear, but am worried that a mass influx of DeFi stories based on tapping into those fears gets them tapping the link for a read more often.
I would be very interested in seeing the difference between the way popular news feeds populate Crypto stories differently for Seniors and Millennials/ younger generations.
I know the majority of my suggested news is about specific coins, interviews with the “who’s who” of Crypto, various use cases of different protocols, how blockchain is going to be such a game changer for everyone on the planet in a great way, stories about the state of the markets, financial analysts take on various bullish and bearish trends and bets in the vein of Traditional Finance, and of course I see some headlines about the massive Crypto screwups too that just can’t be ignored due to their seriousness (hacks, crazy and unexpected token losses e.g Luna/UST).
However, my feeds typically pull up stories of a more constructive nature or how the different coins/chains/projects will benefit the world in some way.
Can we do a comparison of how the popularly used news feeds pull up crypto stories for younger people and the…more seasoned of us differently? I’d also like to look into what feeds Seniors use most.
Facebook, not that I really use it much, but it seems to love the “world is on fire” stories that people love sharing. My Twitter however pulls up Crypro content that is either more factual rather than emotional or marketing content by the project owners.
My Google feed is similar. That being said there is a plethora of negative stories surrounding the Luna foul up no matter where you get your news, but for me that’s the exception not the mass.
Can some older users here respond to that or If you know a senior could I request you ask them to take a gander at their feeds and see what’s being suggested for them to view?
We may have to take this “fight” to the algorithms themselves or rather the companies feeding the fear. I say fight, but I would prefer showing them love somehow and helping balance things out….balance them out in our favor of course lol.
Should my gut instinct be accurate and they are leaning negative; I have a thought. Perhaps a flood of positive stories to overload the algorithms with sheer numbers. Stories headlining the benefits of the Blockchain.
If Cardano users and journalists in our corner could do a mass publishing blitz from various outlets that lay out Cardanos upside and various use cases; perhaps that could help shine a new light on the markets for them. It would at least balance out the negativity and let them see the positive.
