In response to the suggestion in the Draft Constitution that some Delegated Representatives (DReps) may be script-based as part of minimum viable governance, I messaged ChatGPT to write a constitution for the cardano blockchain

CIP-1694
- mentions smart contracts once, in relation to managing the governance framework:
At a later stage, we can imagine the Constitution perhaps evolving into a smart-contract based set of rules that drives the entire governance framework.
- mentions scripts in relation to Guardrails, and one reference to a plutus script “purpose” for DReps.
- New plutus script purpose for DReps.
- A new
Voting
purpose will be added to Plutus script contexts. This will provide, in particular, the vote to on-chain scripts.

The Interim Constitution:
- mentions smart contracts once in ARTICLE III PARTICIPATORY GOVERNANCE
Section 1The Cardano Blockchain ecosystem shall be governed by a decentralized, on-chain governance model, utilizing, to the extent possible and beneficial, smart contracts and other blockchain-based tools to facilitate decision-making and ensure transparency. On-chain voting for governance actions shall follow the process outlined in CIP-1694 and the Cardano Blockchain Guardrails.
- mentions scripts many times in relation to
- Guardrail scripts during Interim constitution
- Plutus Script Execution Prices
- maximum script execution units (Transaction fees per byte, script volume/size, execution cost benchmarks, etc.)
- mentions smart contracts once in ARTICLE III PARTICIPATORY GOVERNANCE
The Plutus script purpose for DReps and the Vote ability in Plutus scripts are the only thing I can think you are referencing. I don’t interpret any mention of new functionality for plutus scripts as:
[…] some Delegated Representatives (DReps) may be script-based […]
at least in the way you seem to be suggesting.
I’ve read the draft constitution multiple times. Albeit I did not attend any constitution workshops I certainly don’t feel any of it seems to imply what you suggest. I don’t know of a single time someone has suggested that DReps would not be an individual working to get delegation from ADA holders, reviewing the proposals themselves and voting.
@ParadoxicalSphere Can you point out exactly what part of the Draft Constitution you believe describes DReps may be script-based, besides your AIConstitution.md
? To date your AI Generated constitution is the only place I seem to find a strong suggestion that it was implied that DReps would actually be a script, and that it might be removed from the constitution that DReps would be a script.
I don’t see it suggested when I read through the constitution for any reference to scripts or smart contracts. I could be wrong, missed something, etc., but so far it feels like this is a fairly strange interpretation of the draft constitution. I also have not heard anyone else suggest this.
