Technical issues like these (scalability) are a golden opportunity for Cardano/Ada to thrive imo.

Although not ideal, the situation with Bitcoin is not that bad right now: a small tx will probably cost you about $1 USD and take maybe 4 hours until you get the first confirm. I suspect that the real reason for taking that route is to promote BCH (specially since it was originally reported by bitcoin dot com).
