Building, Educating and Connecting - April Review (2024)

April was a month was packed with exciting events and learning opportunities, with two major events taking place at the end. Let’s take a deeper dive into the highlights:

Buidler Fest
The first major event was Builder Fest, which took place in Tulouse, France.

Builder Fest was a great opportunity to dive deeper into the Cardano Ecosystem but with emphasis on “What’s” being built as well as “Why”. We also got to meet the passionate devs who are making it all come to life.

As someone coming from a non-technical background, it was fascinating to see how these concepts and ideas are shaping the future of cardano and glimpse “under the hood” of the current system. (And yes, for those who missed it, there are definitely DEVs building on Cardano).

On a personal note, being the only female attendee was both interesting and motivating. It has fueled my desire to bring more women into these types of events and I am on a mission to recruit more amazing minds to the next Buidler Fest, which hopefully will be somewhere warm (wink wink).

DRep Workshop
The second major event was the DRep Workshop hosted by @ThomasLindseth, @Eystein_Hansen and I the day following Buidler fest.

Here, I focused on Community Building and how imortant the community is for a DRep. We also touched upon the different ways where a DRep and Delegator can communicate with each other.

There is also an extensive review of the workshop written by @ThomasLindseth which you can find here: Buidler Fest from a non-technical perspective

Konsensis
We conducted two classes with the Konsensis students, focusing solely on basic setup and use of wallets by using Vespr.

The students continue to impress by quickly grasping the concepts and also understandning the importance of safety and keeping your seed phrase safe.

We have also encountered some challenges: maintaining a stable internet connection continues to be an obstacle at times and the students not beng able to access the internet or devices outside of class time. We are looking for ways to improve this to make learning more seamless for the students.

One way is to imppliment smaller working groups, allowing more hands-on learning and giving us the opportunity to follow the students more closely. We will imliment this already for the next course, which will take place this coming saturday.

What is next?
In May we have scheduled a new DRep workshop and will be co-hosting with @Upstream, ADA North Pool, Nordic Cardano Community and Konsensis. (Cardano - DRep Workshop [London], Fri, May 24, 2024, 10:00 AM | Meetup)

After the event we are cllaborating with Clay Nation to host their Claybourhood Meetup, which you can find here: DRep it like its Hot - after hang · Luma

Looking ahead, May promises to be another exciting month with a collaborative DRep workshop and meetups. Stay tuned for more updates!
