On September 22, 2024, the Cardano Blockchain Meetup Special Ha Noi event took place at Cen X Space - Golden Palace, Ha Noi. Despite heavy rain just before the event started, we had 45 attendees out of 98 registered participants. Although the weather was unfavorable, the atmosphere at the Meetup remained warm and lively, with many exciting exchanges from the community members.
This was a special event, marking the first-ever Meetup in Hà Nội, kicking off the regular Cardano Meetup Ha Noi series and launching the Cardano Builders Vietnam Community, with support from the Sky3 Team and Cardano Viet Nam. Notably, the presence of Minswap, a top decentralized exchange (DEX) on the Cardano blockchain, drew significant attention from the community.
Event Highlights:
1. Opening Remarks
Ha Nguyen,Cardano Ambassador, opened the event with a warm welcome and introduced the Cardano Meetup Ha Noi and Cardano Builders Vietnam Community – a community of developers working on the Cardano blockchain in Vietnam.
Representing the Sky3 Team, Mr. James and Ms. Amy introduced the plans and development direction of the Cardano Builder Vietnam Community, as well as their efforts in supporting the Developer community in building on the Cardano Blockchain.
2. Cardano Ecosystem Updates
Jimmy Lee from the Vcoincheck team shared key updates about the Cardano ecosystem, including information on Fund 13 Catalyst. His insights sparked great interest from developers from other blockchain platforms, creating excitement about Cardano and Project Catalyst.
3. Minigame
The Sky3 Team hosted a quiz game about Cardano, helping participants deepen their understanding of the platform. The minigame was met with positive feedback and enthusiastic participation from the community.
4. Insights from Cardano Builders
Mr. Long, CEO of Minswap, shared his entrepreneurial journey, from being a student to founding Minswap with the support of Catalyst. His success story inspired many, especially developers from other blockchain ecosystems.
5. Live Q&A Session
The live Q&A session, featuring Mr. Long from Minswap and Mr. Jimmy Lee from Vcoincheck, sparked engaging discussions.
Key questions
- What were the biggest challenges you faced when starting a business on Cardano, and how did you overcome them?
- How did you raise funds and develop Minswap through Catalyst? How did Catalyst support your project?
- Why did you choose to start a business on Cardano rather than other blockchains like Ethereum or Solana? What unique advantages does Cardano offer in product development?
- How has Minswap’s development impacted other developer communities within the Cardano ecosystem? Do you have any advice for new developers looking to start on Cardano?
- How can projects on Cardano effectively deploy go-to-market strategies?
- Is there a plan to build developer tools on Cardano similar to other platforms?
- Are there many dApps on Cardano right now, and how does their potential compare to platforms like EVM and SOL?
- I don’t have programming skills or a tech background. Can I still participate in the Cardano ecosystem and earn an income? What roles might be suitable for me?
- Currently, ADA holders are not very active in Cardano DeFi. Will this change soon?
6. Networking and Teabreak
After the main discussions, attendees had the chance to enjoy a teabreak and network with each other. Many expressed a desire to form teams and participate in Catalyst to develop ideas and products on Cardano.

7. DOOM Original on Hydra
Mr. Jimmy Lee shared an exciting application of Hydra, Cardano’s Layer2 scaling solution, used in the game DOOM. At the Rare Evo event, attendees experienced playing DOOM on Hydra technology, both locally and globally. The game processed tens of millions of transactions during the event, with transaction speeds reaching up to 7,182 transactions per second (TPS).
Some standout questions related to this experience included:
- How did Hydra’s technology need to adapt to meet the sudden surge in demand from players at the Rare Evo event?
- How scalable is Hydra in the future to support games and services that require massive transaction volumes, such as DeFi applications?
- What are Cardano’s plans for Hydra’s future, especially in supporting more powerful Layer 2 solutions for decentralized finance applications?
- Hydra took six years to reach mainnet and may take another 2-3 years to fully develop. As other ecosystems are becoming very active, will Cardano remain competitive in this space?
8. Lucky Draw and Closing
Before the event concluded, the Sky3 Team held a lucky draw and awarded special gifts to the lucky participants.
Ha Nguyen from the Cardano Vietnam Community also presented bouquets to thank the speakers for their contributions.
