CARDANO MEME CONTEST šŸ†

Ok, I’ll do that as well.

Facepalm time. :man_facepalming:

Yeah, sorry for the inefficiency. Still rocking a 7/7, 12-16/24 hour schedule. We’ll get it done :+1:

Soooooo I was gone this weekend…

Am I in the contest? I’m not in the banner thingy

Hey @alabrash we thank you for your submissions, @SeanAlimov and I had great fun looking over them. Unfortunately, as you can tell competition was fierce and we had to make some tough calls to narrow down the contest and hope you understand!

We welcome you to keep posting awesome memes and hope to see you get involved with future fun events on the forum :muscle:

I feel left out, and I do not understand.

I expected more rigor and transparency from this than late a week with no discussion followed by ā€œI guess me and Sean will thin it downā€

I’m disappointed. Not very ā€œCardanoā€ IMO

I take on your feedback, and thank you for voicing your opinion! We had a rigorous discussion earlier (as seen above) to try and get this competition judged fairly. Unfortunately, due to some circumstances, we felt it was best to move away from a panel of ambassadors and in doing so, @SeanAlimov consulted the community.

It was then after a heated discussion agreed that we should let the community vote on its winners, but was not realistic to host all of the submissions in this manner. So it was felt best that we should narrow down submissions and post a short list for the community to vote.

While doing so, we had Cardano’s best interests at heart and agreed on a number of submissions that were suitable for the shortlist. I can see frustrations arising from ā€˜leaving’ members out of the decision for shortlisting, but in reality, it would have been impossible to conduct a meaningful decision-making process with large numbers of community members being involved. We apologize for creating a feeling of being left out, but I hope you do understand and again please feel free to contact me or Sean with any queries you may have :+1:

I guess that doesn’t come util Voltaire

I mean, we are definitely going to look to do something similar in the future! Any feedback and advice we get off the back of this contest will help us to improve for next time!

I hope you understand and do not feel too discouraged, I can assure you there will be many more awesome contests like this one to come :muscle:

I guess how I would have done it is get everyone who had met the deadline to submit their favorite meme of their own. Now that you have one from everyone, you have a realistic list of memes to vote on.

Like you just cut out soooo many people that had submitted memes

I hear you! In this case we had over 60 different people submit memes, so with a voting poll consisting of 60 users, things might have been difficult to accurately quantify.

Like I said getting some feedback is great and we will definitely try to improve for next time, In this case, it’s our community’s first big contest and like I said we will make sure we improve on any voting system we have next :+1:

Who knows maybe a committed community member could dream up and build a system that will be perfect for this kind of use case!

If you’re just going to keep replying with ā€œHey, maybe we won’t just phone it in next timeā€ messages I want my 200ADA to go to xxrsee. The terms of the contest are not what I gave up my money for, this is stupid.

You donated to the prize-fund. It is as immature to try and revoke your donation as it is unproductive to complain about the winning entries, and it will cause an unnecessary problem to something that has been problematic enough as it is. I too felt I had at least one deserving to be in the finals - and I can guarantee you many more did. But, we were not the judges, and in my case, especially after your reaction, I am very glad for that.

If you’re in disagreement with the entries that made it to the finals, then that is unfortunate. It’s beyond your power to change them, though. But, what is within your power, is to vote upon the final entries to try and have your say at least in how the contest ends. If you want xxrsee to win a prize then vote for their entry from the final 13.

Moaning now is only going to make people feel like shit, and to what end? It will not change anything. If you dislike how the contest turned out - simply avoid the next one.

I am going to vote on the final entries I understand well enough to feel they are deserving of a prize. I would advise you to simply do the same and move on.

  • My thanks goes out to Sean and to all contributors to the prizepool for inspiring me to exercise my creativity. Good luck to those who made it through to the finals.

I’m sorry you feel this way, we reached out to different parts of the community looking for advice on how to get this organised and sorted.

At the end of the day it needed to get sorted and I apologise that you (along with others) don’t feel it has been conducted well, but at the end of the day Sean and I spend hours and hours debating and looking through submissions.

A lot had to be critically looked at in terms of copyright issues and some did not fit the criteria we were looking for that was outlined at the start.

I don’t want the contest to leave anyone with a bitter taste. I do feel as though the submissions we selected are very good, and we have left the final stage to the community to decide.

I hope you can see this from our angle.

Things get quite rough when money is involved. Let’s respect the organizers’ decision and enjoy all the memes that wouldn’t have been made if not for this contest.

Looking forward to future community activities.

I walk in from a day of work to;
ā€œHey, everything was hard so here’s a really easy cop-outā€
that I’m completely excluded from?
I’m not even IN THE CONTEST anymore because 2 mods say my submissions aren’t good enough to be judged by the community.

I will most definitely not be in the next contest if it’s hosted by Sean or Josh, as I am extremely unhappy with how this turned out. I’m of course disappointed I’m not included, but I would have made the same stink if I had been in the finals. The rules said the community would judge all the memes submitted.

To take people’s money and change the rules is wrong. If you don’t agree that it’s my right to get my money back, then I think you’re missing the point of all of this. May as well build it on EOS

Edited - Sean volunteered to give me ADA from his personal account before I posted this message

To say that we have taken your money saddens me. Just remember that both me and @SeanAlimov give up large amounts of our time to this community to help see it grow and develop along with many others. It took us both 4 hours to judge these submissions, that we took out of our evenings and we made sure to review every submission.

Sean also has donated much more to time to the contest with setting it up, maintaining it and the organising submissions.

I understand that you do not agree with the way things have been done and I apologise, but it’s best to leave it there… to say we have taken your money and changed the rules really does sadden me. I have no gain out of doing this for the community, I just do it out of passion for Cardano and the committed community members.

I acknowledge your feelings and I’m sorry if I’ve made you feel like you didn’t do the work that you did. You had to make tough calls, and you made them. The result is I’m displeased and I’m sending my 200ADA to xxrsee.
I’m not taking my money back because I want it to circulate and do good things for the community.

My feelings, however, stand as they are.

If you’ve donated :ada: and feel mislead that the donation would increase your chances of winning the contest, I apologize. If you DM me I’ll gladly reimburse you from my own funds. Roughly 90% of the donations were from myself , I have no issue making it 100%.

Best, Sean
