The second meetup of the Hanoi Cardano Meetup Series 2025 took place on December 20, 2025, bringing together builders, developers, students, and Web3 enthusiasts in Hanoi.
Organized by Sky3Team and Cardano Vietnam, this session built upon the foundation of Meetup #1 and shifted the focus toward Midnight, programmable privacy, and emerging opportunities around privacy-powered decentralized applications within the Cardano ecosystem — particularly in the context of Fund15 and the Midnight: Compact DApps category.
Key Highlights
- Event link: https://luma.com/54ia0252
- Registrations: 81
- Actual attendance: ~50 participants
- Builder / developer ratio: ~35%
- Primary interests: Midnight, privacy, real-world DApp use cases
- Key insight: Builders are eager to move beyond conceptual discussions and explore concrete, grant-ready privacy-enabled applications.
1. Opening & Community Gathering
The meetup began with a check-in and networking session, welcoming builders, developers, students, SPOs, DReps, and Cardano community members across Hanoi.
In the opening remarks, the Sky3Team organizing team outlined the core objective of Meetup #2:
to demystify privacy, clarify Midnight’s role within Cardano, and help builders understand what can realistically be built and funded in the near future — especially under the new Fund15 focus on privacy-first applications.
2. Ecosystem Overview — Why Midnight Matters
Introduction to Midnight & Programmable Privacy
Speaker: Jimmy Lee — Cardano Ambassador
Jimmy delivered a high-level ecosystem overview covering:
- Cardano as a secure, decentralized base layer
- Midnight as a dedicated privacy and data-protection partner chain
- Why privacy is essential for real-world blockchain adoption
- How programmable privacy enables selective disclosure and user-controlled data sharing
This session helped participants clearly understand where Midnight fits within Cardano’s long-term architecture and why it represents a strategic direction for compliant, real-world applications.
3. Builder Deep Dive — What Can Be Built with Midnight
What Can Builders Build with Midnight?
Speaker: Finn Trinh — Software Engineer & Product Owner, MidnightExplorer
Finn followed with a builder-focused deep dive, translating privacy concepts into practical technical directions:
- The distinction between public state and private state in Midnight
- Off-chain computation with on-chain verification
- How zero-knowledge proofs enable privacy without sacrificing correctness or auditability
Practical use cases discussed included:
- Private identity and age verification
- Encrypted messaging and selective disclosure
- Access control and compliance-aware workflows
- Enterprise and institutional data-sharing scenarios
This session gave builders a clearer sense of where to start experimenting and how Midnight tooling can support real-world requirements.
4. Q&A, Discussion & Privacy Builder Quiz
The final segment featured an open Q&A session, followed by a short Privacy Builder Quiz, creating an engaging and interactive learning environment.
Questions from participants included:
- From an ecosystem perspective, how does Midnight fit into Cardano’s long-term strategy?
- What are the biggest challenges Vietnamese builders face when approaching privacy and Midnight?
- Compared to existing blockchains, what problems does Midnight solve that were previously difficult or impractical?
- In a typical Midnight application, which components run off-chain and which are verified on-chain?
- How can builders ensure trustworthiness when relying on off-chain credentials and third-party issuers?
The interactive format reinforced key ideas in a relaxed but technically meaningful way.
5. Community Takeaways
Feedback from participants highlighted that the meetup:
- Made privacy concepts more accessible and less intimidating
- Connected ecosystem-level vision with concrete technical paths
- Sparked interest in exploring Midnight tooling and Fund15 opportunities
- Encouraged builders to view privacy as a long-term opportunity, not a niche feature
Closing Reflection
Hanoi Cardano Meetup Series #2 successfully moved the community conversation from ecosystem awareness to hands-on exploration of privacy-powered applications.
The strong engagement throughout the sessions reflected a growing readiness among Vietnamese builders to experiment with programmable privacy and prepare for upcoming funding opportunities on Cardano.
We sincerely thank the Cardano Foundation, Project Catalyst, and the global Cardano community for their continued support in making education-driven and builder-focused initiatives like this possible.
Special appreciation goes to Jimmy Lee and Finn Trinh for their valuable insights, and to all participants for their thoughtful questions and active participation. Your curiosity and willingness to engage meaningfully are helping shape a strong privacy-first builder community in Vietnam.
