[1 year, 8 months ago, a survey was conducted on X to gather thoughts on the question “What should the saturation limit range for dReps be?”. Credits to @StakeWithPride.
It was interesting to learn from that survey that 53.7% of respondents wanted a saturation limit set at 50 million ADA or less, whereas 17.4% wanted no saturation limit introduced.
This was before the bootstrapping phase, and now that we are in the bootstrapping phase with about 490+ DReps already registered and receiving delegation, I want to gather your thoughts once more on the topics: Should there be delegation saturation for DReps? and Should there be a “Cap” on total DReps?
Speaking of delegation saturation, I would also vote for 50M Ada with the view of maintaining balance in the voting system and reducing the risk of concentrated influence in one pool promoting centralized power.
i also dont support capping of total dReps even though that idea might be to manage the dRep ecosystem size. I think since this is a new initiative, we adopt periodic evaluations and adapt as demand and delegation dynamics evolve
A saturation limit of 50M ADA seems very reasonable to me, since we do want to promote decentralization. I believe thought, that a hard cap on the total number of DReps is not required.
A cap on the number of dReps would be detrimental. We want many dReps.
Still think and always thought that a cap on delegated voting power should be there.
There should also be an expiration after which delegation has to be renewed (or changed) to force reconsideration of the decision. Otherwise dReps can aggregate lots of delegations from users who don’t care at all what they do. We already have that in the form of “sticky stake” for stake pools and it’s not really good.
Yes exactly! Sticky stake is an issue and we don’t want that on governance. And yes, we need as many DReps as possible, I totally agree.
My comment is actually mostly about the limit of delegation, not about the number of DReps! (I just commented on the DReps to express my agreement with the above comments that the number of DReps should not be limited)
Very grateful to you guys for sharing these valuable thoughts. I am very confident of a consideration at the right time to ensure the best outcome for the DRep initiative.
