Cardano Becomes Official x402 Chain
Cardano has been officially integrated into the x402 standard, marking a significant milestone for the ecosystem. The x402 protocol (originally developed by Coinbase) enables native, automated, and verifiable on-chain pay-to-access payments between AI agents and services. The x402 Foundation officially merged the Pull Request for the Cardano Specification, making Cardano an official x402 chain. Furthermore, the optional inclusion of the Masumi Smart Contract enhances the Cardano implementation, providing powerful features such as Identity, Refunds & Disputes, Decision Logging, and Registry. This integration is particularly applicable to agent-to-agent payment challenges, simplifying Web3 payments for all users. Details on X.
Blockfrost Integrates Filecoin Premium Storage for Cardano Developers
Blockfrost has integrated Filecoin’s premium storage tier, allowing Cardano developers to utilize Filecoin’s global, decentralized network for a robust and reliable data backup. This collaboration, which is backed by the Filecoin Foundation, establishes a verifiable, distributed storage layer across independent providers. For data-driven applications on Cardano, this represents a major reliability upgrade that enhances data redundancy and security. Developers can adopt this premium tier with no infrastructure overhead and without requiring any changes to their existing workflows. For the full details, read the original article.
Paris Blockchain Week
The Paris Blockchain Week was a major success for Cardano, where the ecosystem showcased a remarkable presence.
As part of a coordinated appearance, 25 different Cardano projects presented themselves under a single brand and utilized a shared booth. This unified approach allowed them to communicate a cohesive narrative to stakeholders, including institutional clients, retail investors, developers, and partners.
The goal was to demonstrate the strength and cohesion of the Cardano industry to the wider blockchain community. The Paris Blockchain Week video is now available**, view here.**
Cardano at JCON 2026: Bridging Java and Blockchain
The Cardano Foundation’s presence at JCON in Cologne marked a significant shift in how the enterprise Java community views decentralized technology. Moving past the “blockchain is a scam” narrative of previous years, the 2026 event focused on technical substance and real-world utility.
Key Highlights
-
A Serious Audience: JCON was a “learning-first” environment. Unlike typical crypto events, the halls were empty during sessions as thousands of experienced Java developers focused on presentations.
-
The Bridge (JuLC): The biggest technical takeaway was the JuLC (Java-to-UPLC) compiler. It allows developers to write both off-chain and on-chain code in Java, removing the barrier to building Plutus V3 smart contracts. Check it: https://github.com/bloxbean/julc
-
Real-World Use Cases: Fabian Bormann’s session, “Building a Digital Product Passport with Java and Cardano,” demonstrated how blockchain solves transparency and compliance needs in enterprise supply chains.
-
From “Coin” to Infrastructure: Conversations at the booth often started with skepticism but ended with developers realizing Cardano’s potential as a backbone for backend enterprise systems.
Looking Forward
The JCON team has become a strong ally, actively helping us connect with established Java ecosystem partners. The participation of this year makes a dedicated hands-on workshop for 2027 the logical next step to deepen this integration.
Cardanians: Weekly Ecosystem Updates
The latest update shared by Cardanians focuses on important advancements in infrastructure, project visibility, and marketing governance. Developer infrastructure is seeing an improvement as Blockfrost has integrated Filecoin’s premium storage, allowing Cardano developers to utilize Filecoin’s global network for reliable data backup without extra infrastructure overhead.
For better project visibility, the blockchain explorer Cexplorer launched a new Project Page to consolidate all projects building on Cardano in one central location. The goal is to provide users with easy access to projects, their products, and on-chain connections (including assets, scripts, and DReps).
Finally, the Serviceplan Group, a major advertising agency with notable clients such as BMW, Netflix, and LEGO, submitted a 21 million ADA Marketing Proposal to the Intersect Budget Process. This proposal aims to make Cardano, which stands on strong technical foundations, more appealing to enterprise decision-makers. For all the details and more, view here the X thread.
Cardano Governance: Intense Week (April 20–26)
The week of April 20–26 saw intense Cardano governance activity. The Cardano Foundation hosted live AMAs on X discussing the Cardano Summit 2026 treasury withdrawal. In parallel, Input Output (IOG) submitted nine treasury withdrawal requests totaling 162,142,627 ADA for various initiatives like Cardano Maintenance and Cardano Upgrades (full details: https://momentum.cardano.iog.io/).
High-stakes submissions also continued through Intersect’s Budget Process using the Hydra voting tool, including several multi-million ADA proposals for marketing and core infrastructure.
This has been a particularly demanding week for everyone involved in governance.
