Interoperability: LayerZero Integration Approved
On February 12th, 2026, Intersect MBO, on behalf of the Pentad, announced the approval of Cardano’s integration with LayerZero under the Critical Cardano Integrations workstream.
This marks the largest cross-chain connectivity expansion in Cardano’s history, connecting the network to more than 150 blockchains and unlocking access to stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets, and shared DeFi infrastructure across ecosystems.
The integration strengthens Cardano’s interoperability strategy while preserving its security and decentralization model. It opens new design space for builders looking to tap into cross-chain liquidity and composability.
LayerZero is an omnichain messaging protocol developed by LayerZero Labs, designed to enable secure, permissionless communication between blockchains. It provides the foundational infrastructure for dApps to operate seamlessly across multiple networks without relying on centralized intermediaries. LayerZero is expected to play a pivotal role in furthering the advancement of Cardano’s interoperability capabilities.

Cardano Africa Tech Summit 2026
From February 11 to 13, Nairobi hosted two back-to-back tech events that highlighted Cardano’s growing footprint in Africa. The first two days were part of Africa Tech Summit Nairobi at the Sarit Expo Centre, where Cardano took part as a main sponsor with a strong Cardano pavilion presence including 20 booths, a live streamed Cardano stage, demos, and direct engagement with founders, developers, and policymakers.
On February 13, the focus shifted to the standalone Cardano Africa Tech Summit (CATS) at Tamarind Tree Hotel, a dedicated day centered on Cardano projects, partnerships, and real-world adoption across the region. As the last of the global Cardano Summit side events supported by the Unified Global Events Marketing Strategy for Cardano, CATS finished the series with an impressive turnout.
Together, the week offered both a broad view of Africa’s tech landscape and a focused look at how Cardano builders are contributing to it. This full‑day program delivered a packed agenda of keynotes, panels, and breakout tracks focused on blockchain adoption, developer tooling, governance, emerging tech applications, and enterprise integration. Government representatives reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to an inclusive digital economy through closer innovator-regulator collaboration.
The momentum was reinforced by the CATS hackathon initiative, which ran across local hubs from late 2025 into early 2026 and involved more than 1,000 participants. Teams collaborated to design solutions, build prototypes, and move their ideas forward, with top projects continuing into post-event incubation.
Beyond hackathons and panels, the Cardano Foundation team connected with developers and non-developers eager to learn, contribute, and collaborate. They met attendees already familiar with Cardano and those just starting their journey, exploring real ways to get involved in the ecosystem.
Representatives from EMURGO and Intersect MBO were also on hand, making this a truly collaborative space for growth, innovation, and connection across the continent.

Cardano-Node v10.5.4 Released
Also on February 12th, Intersect MBO released Cardano-Node 10.5.4, delivering important networking-layer enhancements to improve node resilience and robustness. All SPOs are recommended to upgrade, and those building from source must update to libblst 0.3.14.
The release introduces a checkpoint file to the preview configuration for genesis-mode syncing and strengthens the diffusion layer by enforcing reconnection limits in the outbound governor, refining bootstrap behavior, and adjusting chain-sync timeouts for more stable peer communication.
See the full release note here:
https://github.com/IntersectMBO/cardano-node/releases/tag/10.5.4
If you’re an SPO and seeking an upgrade guide, here’s one on the Cardano Forum, provided by the 46 South Cardano stake pool operator, Jeremy
Furthermore, Intersect MBO recently also published a hard fork update, including notes on Pre-Release Cardano Node 10.6.2 and Cardano Node 10.7.0. The update also covers a recently submitted Info Action from the Hard Fork Working Group proposing the name for the Protocol Version 11 hard fork, “van Rossem”.
EMURGO & Intersect: Tokyo Session on 2026 Budget & DRep Governance
EMURGO, together with Intersect MBO, has recently announced an in-depth session in Tokyo meant to explore the 2026 Cardano budget process and the role of DReps in Cardano’s on-chain governance.
The discussion will examine how DReps evaluate proposals, allocate treasury funding, and make decisions that shape the ecosystem’s direction. As treasury governance becomes increasingly consequential, clarity around evaluation frameworks and decision-making processes is critical.
The event will take place on February 25, 2026 at NAMIKI667, Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo.

Cardano Newsletter: Weekly Updates
According to the latest Cardano Newsletter (Weekly Digest #113), several notable ecosystem milestones were highlighted this week.
During Consensus Hong Kong, Charles Hoskinson confirmed that Midnight mainnet is scheduled to launch by the end of March, transitioning the privacy-focused partner chain from extended testnet into live production infrastructure. The newsletter also reports that CME Group has officially launched ADA futures, representing a significant step in regulated institutional market access.
In addition, the newsletter highlights how Plastiks is leveraging Cardano to anchor verified environmental recovery data on-chain, with over 10 million kilograms of plastic traced across 20 countries — positioning blockchain as measurable infrastructure for sustainability rather than speculation.
These were among several updates covered in the weekly development report and broader ecosystem news.
Read here the complete weekly update.
Cardanians: Weekly Ecosystem Updates
In the latest Cardanians Ecosystem Newsletter (#110), several developments across the Cardano ecosystem stand out.
According to the authors, USDCx is expected to launch by the end of February, aiming to enable seamless wallet-to-exchange swaps with instant convertibility on platforms such as Coinbase and Binance. They also highlight the integration with LayerZero Labs, connecting Cardano to more than 160 chains and expanding cross-chain liquidity access.
On the infrastructure side, the newsletter points to Midnight mainnet targeting the end of March, alongside Ouroboros Leios as a significant scaling advancement, with further demonstrations and higher throughput expectations ahead.
In addition, the update also reference a BTC ↔ ADA bridge demonstration from FluidTokens and continued DeFi expansion, including Strike’s V2 private mainnet.

Updates from the Cardano Foundation
The Cardano Foundation recently shared several updates across developer engagement, enterprise tooling, ecosystem education, and Project Catalyst.
Java developers building on Cardano can apply for free tickets to JCON Conference. The initiative invites developers to test tools such as Yaci and the Cardano Client Library and provide direct feedback to help shape their development, strengthening the Java ecosystem around Cardano.
Reeve 1.3 has also been released. The update enables financial data to carry verified organizational identity through vLEI and be published using customizable reporting templates. Reeve is designed to help teams generate financial records that third parties can independently verify without changing existing systems. Learn more here https://cardanofoundation.org/reeve
In a recent blog article, “Building on Cardano Without Haskell,” the Foundation outlined the diverse range of on-chain languages supported within the ecosystem and explained how on-chain and off-chain development interact. The piece serves as a practical guide for developers and entrepreneurs evaluating how to build on Cardano. Read more here https://cardanofoundation.org/blog/building-on-cardano-without-haskell
Lastly, following the pause of Fund 15, the Foundation shared that teams from the Cardano Foundation, IO Group, and Intersect are conducting a joint strategic and operational review of Project Catalyst, focused on ecosystem growth and funding synergies. Fund applications up to and including Fund 14 continue to be processed, with further updates expected. https://x.com/Cardano_CF/status/2021877993560330394?s=20
