Updates from IOG
Security Upgrade: Ouroboros PhalanxIOG recently announced Ouroboros Phalanx, an upgrade that strengthens Cardano’s defenses against stake-based manipulation. According to the author, Phalanx enhances Ouroboros Praos using verifiable delay functions, making grinding attacks significantly more expensive and impractical. This improves fair leader selection, boosts network reliability, and can reduce transaction confirmation times by up to 30%. Read the full blog here.
Research Spotlight: Advancing ZK RollupsIOG continues its commitment to blockchain research, now nearing 270 published papers. Among these is “Towards a Formal Foundation for Blockchain ZK Rollups,” where the authors analyze security and censorship risks in current Layer-2 designs. They highlight vulnerabilities such as multisig-based control and propose a formally verified model to strengthen resilience. Explore this, and other research papers at iohk.io/research/library.

Updates from the Cardano Foundation
Recently, the Cardano Foundation shared updates highlighting new initiatives in blockchain transparency, digital identity, and ecosystem infrastructure.
A new educational video on Digital Product Passports (DPP) explores how Cardano can bring transparency and sustainability to global supply chains. Anchored on the blockchain, DPPs help organizations track materials, carbon footprint, repairability, and more, while ensuring compliance and building trust. Watch the video here.
In governance, the Foundation launched an Info Action to gather community support for securing the .ada and .cardano generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) in the upcoming ICANN application window. Successfully registering these domains would strengthen Cardano’s digital presence and allow ecosystem participants to use corresponding addresses. Read more and support the initiative here.
Finally, the Foundation released a new e-book on Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI), showing how it enables individuals and organizations to control their digital credentials, enhance privacy, reduce fraud, and simplify compliance across sectors like finance, healthcare, and supply chains. Access the e-book here.
