The Delegator Patron Program is an additional initiative by the CORAL Pool to provide extra rewards to delegators. While the standard Return on Ada (ROA) is a measure of the pool’s performance and the rewards it generates, the Delegator Patron Program goes a step further.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Delegator Patron Program Bonus: Delegators who participate in this program receive extra ADA rewards beyond what the standard ROA offers. It’s a way for CORAL Pool to express appreciation for the support from early delegators.
  2. Standard ROA: The Return on Ada (ROA) is a standard measure of a pool’s performance, indicating the percentage of ADA rewards it generates based on its stake and block production. It’s a key metric for delegators to assess the effectiveness of a pool.

So, while the ROA represents the regular rewards generated by the pool based on its performance, the Delegator Patron Program is a special initiative by CORAL Pool to provide additional rewards to delegators who take part in the program. Delegators can enjoy both the standard rewards from staking and the extra rewards from the Delegator Patron Program.

We’re here to help!

Ever wondered how block assignment in Cardano works?

:game_die: Analogy of how block assignment works; :game_die:

Pre knowledge;
-In Cardano, time is divided into epochs of 5 days.
-Every epoch consists of 432 000 slots.
-Every slot is one second.
-Approximately every 20th slot, a block is minted and added to the chain.
-Each pool has a unique VRF key pair acting as the dice. :game_die: VRF = Verifiable Random Function.
-Blocks are assigned before the epoch starts.

Analogy;
-Each pool throws its dice :game_die: (automated function by the Vrf Key).
-The dice have 35 billion sides (one per existing ADA).
-Each pool throws the dice once for every slot, 432k times.
-A pool with 2M staked gets a block assignment each time the dice show number 2M or less.
-A bigger pool has better odds. For example, 32M active stake means it will get a block assignment as the dice show 32M or less.

If two or more pools get a block assignment for the same slot, the lowest numbered dice will win the so-called “slot battle” and mint that block (This favors smaller pools).
