I just created a nami wallet account. Wrote only 23 words of 24 word seed phrase. Please help me to recover my account if its possible. I tried bruteforce but cant get it started

Since you write “just”: Did you use it for anything? If not, you can just delete it and create a new one. It costs nothing.

Is totally possible. The words come from a list of 2048 words and contain a checksum that dramatically reduces the possibilities for the words.

I wrote a script to recover them here:

And gave more remarks on how to use it here:

If that’s too technical for you, ask, but don’t expect an answer in minutes.

Well I tried to use Sundaeswap but couldnt make the transaction because my password was “wrong”. I am sure it was the right one! So I am eager to get the account back. I downloaded python 3 but I dont know how to use it. Need a step by step instructions. I am freaking out at this moment. Please help!

Okay, this is a bit of a blind flight, since I don’t have Windows, but:

  1. You said you have Python 3 downloaded and installed.
  2. Can you start the Powershell?
  3. If you type python3 --version in your Powershell, is it there?
  4. Go to https://gist.githubusercontent.com/HeptaSean/f615f27128be4c1a7a66fe64d08e0b52/raw/811ecb0b15b36d1e3d6d26add8fc1898da0de1f5/bruteforce-BIP39.py and download that to your desktop (right-click “Save Page as …” or something like that).
  5. Again in Powershell, change the directory to your desktop by cd ~/Desktop.
  6. Then you should be able to call the script by, e.g.:
python3 bruteforce-BIP39.py abandon ability able about above absent absorb abstract absurd abuse access accident account accuse achieve acid acoustic acquire across act action actor actress _

And it should answer with eight possibilities like:

abandon ability able about above absent absorb abstract absurd abuse access accident account accuse achieve acid acoustic acquire across act action actor actress blanket ⇒ 00000401003008014030070100240500b0180340700f020044090130280540b0

abandon ability able about above absent absorb abstract absurd abuse access accident account accuse achieve acid acoustic acquire across act action actor actress hill ⇒ 00000401003008014030070100240500b0180340700f020044090130280540b3
abandon ability able about above absent absorb abstract absurd abuse access accident account accuse achieve acid acoustic acquire across act action actor actress mushroom ⇒ 00000401003008014030070100240500b0180340700f020044090130280540b4
abandon ability able about above absent absorb abstract absurd abuse access accident account accuse achieve acid acoustic acquire across act action actor actress piano ⇒ 00000401003008014030070100240500b0180340700f020044090130280540b5
abandon ability able about above absent absorb abstract absurd abuse access accident account accuse achieve acid acoustic acquire across act action actor actress seed ⇒ 00000401003008014030070100240500b0180340700f020044090130280540b6
abandon ability able about above absent absorb abstract absurd abuse access accident account accuse achieve acid acoustic acquire across act action actor actress truck ⇒ 00000401003008014030070100240500b0180340700f020044090130280540b7

That give you the eight possibilities for the 24th word.
7. You will, of course, want to do that with your 23 words, not with the example.

Hey Friend. It looks that maybe you could help me too… as I see your tips to the other friend was perfectly useful.

I am already connected to my wallet (nami), And I have the password to make a transactions… but I have no idea where I wrote my phrases. Is there any chances to recover it?

Because i am trying to move some balance of this wallet to another one, and I am having NETWORK ERROR message. (maybe due to the sundaeswap launch)… but. I tried a lot of times… oly ONCE i had the successful message… but my balance still there, the another wallet not received nothing, and there’s no transaction on history… after that I am still receiving network error message.

but the main case is: for any reason this browser closes, there’s no way to recover the phrase until I found (if) the annotation…

Is there any suggestions?

Appreciate,

Roger.

No, it will never show you again.

Suggestion would be to create a new wallet, write the 24 words down, try to restore with these 24 words in multiple browsers and/or multiple wallet apps and compare the address to be sure that the 24 words are correct and will give you access in the future, copy the 24 words a couple of times and store them in safe places, but never put them online, … and then transafer everything from the account, where you don’t have the 24 words, to this new one that you are sure that you can recover.

This strange Sundae thing seems to have congested the network for hours. Try, when this craziness has faded.

Thanks for your support. I was able to find the full seed phrase. But sadly enough I got scammed and cleaned out by someone pretending from sundae swap support. on Twitter 12 hours ago.

Well for me Sundae Swap and Nami wallet are a bust.

Funds are gone. My Nami wallet is compromised. Perhaps you have some advice for me to do after this disaster…

Thanks for your time.

I’m very skeptical of this whole token swap thing, but SundaeSwap and the Nami developer can do very little about criminals posing as their support.

If anything is left move it away to another, new, uncompromised wallet. Other than that, there’s little you can do. Report to authorities, maybe, but chances are slim that they can do anything.

Cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of “no central control”. It is wanted that transactions cannot be undone.
