Here’s more details on the transaction. Looks like their was a small 14 cent fee as well and the tip hasn’t gone through yet.
For the record I got 7 tacos and a side of bean queso dip .

Very informative. We really appreciate your sharing of experience with Spend. The fees seem to be reasonable. I’m guessing the transaction fees are around 1% of the purchased value kinda like most exchanges.
If it’s acts like a normal CC, the card expires at some point, is that right? Also, any idea if it can be used in other countries, like UK or Canadian Amazon?
Thanks to this I’m now craving for tacos.
My guess is that they are getting significant hidden processing fees that you would see with any VISA transaction, 3-5% depending on your usage rate, big customers get lower rates. But that is unclear. It could be more like a debit card transaction and have much lower rates.
It makes sense to me that the vendor doesn’t even know how it is processed. I wonder if you still have the ability to contest a payment after the fact through VISA and the processor.
Any thanks for all the detail even if we all wish it were actually clear.
Ohh, it is great, I live in Vietnam and i’m not sure if I can spend my ADA on such things:(
Yep, it has an expiration date. I think you can use it all throughout Canada, that is actually where they started. They have a little roadmap on their about us page but it’s not very specific on dates. Looks like they will be expanding to Europe next.
I’m in Arizona, we have some great tacos here, but yeah all done through Spend and they use visa for processing. I knew I had to make the first purchase something special. There is some great potential here, I could setup a special stake that I use the rewards just to buy tacos. Tacos for life from staking ada? Anything is possible right.
Excellent idea! Tacos for life
There is an inactivity fee of 5usd monthly … not really cool though …
Is there a list of what Cryptos they support somewhere? I couldn’t find it on their site.
BTW Crispy tacos are my favorite. I can only find them in the South West and LA. It’s when they stuff the taco with meat and deep fry the whole thing. I’m sure it’s not the healthiest but man are they good.
Figures. I live in NY and it just figures! UGH!
So far they support BTC, BCH, ETH, LTC, ETC, ADA, SPND, TRX, EOS, ZEC, DASH, XRP, XLM, BNB, POLY (Edit: Also PAX, ARK and QTUM). They say they plan on supporting 50 digital assets eventually so they will be adding a lot more.
Oh wow, that is lame. There is no inactivity fee for US customers I wonder why they have one for CA customers.
Thanks! Be nice to see them get a stable coin in the mix so you could treat it like a debit card and not have to worry about crazy tax implications.
Oh, actually I missed a few and one was a stablecoin. They support PAX.
+/- 600 USD for that ???
I probably should have got a receipt for reference but it was $1.25 per taco and the bean queso was $3.99. Then some tax on top, the bean queso thing wasn’t that exciting and I should have just opted for more tacos…always opt for more tacos.
Agree with always more Tacos.
It is just that I see ADA at 3$
I see it too! Don’t worry I re bought the ADA I spent
This gives me a great idea though, maybe I’ll do this same purchase in the future using the same amount of ADA. There could be a $600 taco party in my future.
Then TACO…!!!
Arizona? That’s like upper Mexico isn’t? I jest. Maybe.
Anyways… very cool story. And Rick–with your help–may have planted the seeds of a future tradition in cryto ADA sphere of the world.
Oh, yeah, Arizona has some good Mexican food on the streets. I visited my cousin down in Tempe and Phoenix many years ago and he got us some tamales off a Mexican woman with a street cart. Those were some good tamales.
