Which of the 2 processors would be more suitable for a Cardano core node or relay

Typical TDP: 71 W

AMD Ryzen 3 4300U Clockspeed: 2.7 GHz Turbo Speed: 3.7 GHz
Typical TDP: 15 W

The cpu doesn’t really matter so much; memmory is more important for nodes


if you are planning on running the node from home (or anywhere i guess) choose the option that uses the least wattage/power where you can still successfully run the node

Go with the Ryzen. While intel’s CPUs used to be lower in idle power consumption, the CPU load will rise in the coming months. Currently a dual-core Zen-2 CPU has a load of 12% average. Including the system etc, you will still end up using significantly less electricity in the while the actual performance is comparable.

Both the CPU’s that you have specified above are top line CPUs and both of them can be used for running the cardano relay and core nodes.
However, if you have to bear the cost of electricity, go with the CPU with least power consumption.
I am running my stale pool [JUDH] with intel Xeon 5650 and the nodes are working perfectly fine.
