Fund 14 is my first time participating as a reviewer, although my first experience as a voter began in Fund 7, reviewing my own votes. That was quite some time ago now.
My experience as an L0 reviewer has been a bit frustrating; I have only reviewed the 20 proposals assigned to me. However, I have spent time reviewing the
in the Partners & Products category.
My methodology has been simple: to look for
positive and
negative actions in each of the areas of Impact, Feasibility, and Value for Money. I have tried to be fair and apply my business degree methodology to each of my reviews. And in some projects, I have found it very difficult, extremely difficult, to find anything positive.
I think it would have been very helpful to have some fields in which to review data. For example, how many transactions per user will the application perform in a year, with realistic measurements, of course. Or how long would it take for the proposal to return the requested funds to the treasury (Return On Investment to the Treasury).
By highlighting these fields, it would be clear whether a proposal is viable or not.
Overall, I have found the process to be slow and tedious. The review module does not make the reviewers’ work any easier.
I have found many proposals that should not have been submitted, as they do not meet the minimum criteria, with four or five
. In my opinion, this filter should be applied during the proposal submission process, with mandatory fields that authors must complete. If these fields are left blank, the proposal should not be sent for review.
Another improvement that I believe should be implemented is the option for reviewers to flag
.
During the review process, I detected several
that should be included in the final review as an L0 reviewer. Voters need to clearly see that, in the proposal, however beneficial it may be, there are certain risks that must be assessed.
For example, if for the Partners & Products category, the project has to be deployed on Mainet, we should NOT allow a proposal that is not on Mainet to reach the voting process.
I have looked for
in 100 projects in this category, and it has been a recurring issue. I have come across some very good proposals with real use cases, but the proposals themselves indicate that an MVP will be built or that a test will be launched on Testnet. In my opinion, this is sufficient to invalidate the proposal in this category, as it should be submitted in the Concepts category.
As a UX/UI improvement, the total number of stars for the proposal and the total number of red flags should be displayed. Even when clicking on the icon, the summary by review category or the list of marked red flags should be displayed.
Another problem I have encountered is searching for identical or similar projects in previous Catalyst Funds. I believe we need a tool that allows us to perform this type of search quickly and easily.
That’s all for now. I hope my ideas will help the Catalyst project.
