A new kind of dApp: Cardano XP is live on Mainnet

Hi Everyone,

I built a new kind of app on Cardano to explore a few problems at once:

  1. Cardano needs new use cases and more people in the Cardano ecosystem should get hands-on experience using Cardano
  2. Builders need feedback. People who care about Cardano need a way to contribute beyond code.

The app is called Cardano XP, and it’s live on mainnet at https://www.cardano-xp.io/

How it works:

  1. Pick a feedback task — apps, courses, proposals, the platform itself
  2. Try the thing. Report issues, suggest improvements, submit evidence
  3. A human reviews your work. Feedback contributions earn XP tokens on-chain
  4. The app will evolve from a prototype to a full product based on your feedback. “Ownership” of the app can be measured by these contributions.

Why this exists:

I met my Gimbalabs co-founders because we gave each other feedback on Catalyst proposals. Over and over again, in my six years building in Cardano, I’ve learned that when people comment on each other’s work, we build relationships. Developers already have this in the form of PRs, code reviews, and commit history. XP provides rails for everyone, not just devs, to build a record of contribution.

But for the rest of us, times are tough in Cardano-land. The market is down, DeFi has an uncertain future despite breakthroughs in integration. We need to run some new experiments about real problems, and see what we discover.

About Cardano XP:

  • Fixed supply: 100,000 XP, minted once. Tasks are the only way in — you can’t buy or transfer your way to reputation
  • On-chain and verifiable: Andamio Access Tokens are Cardano NFTs that can be read by any application
  • Earned then given: You earn XP by contributing. Once you hold it, you can give it to others. Your total earned is always recorded on your access token, even after you’ve given the XP away
  • Building in public: This app is just a prototype. It’s full of AI slop. That’s by design. I’m prototyping in public, and you’re invited to contribute to the process
  • Composable: New apps can set XP as a prerequisite without knowing you personally.
  • A new kind of public key: You are already familiar with signing keys and how on-chain validators work. XP uses a new kind of public key, that you can only earn by giving your first feedback. When you do, you unlock access to the rest of the app.

What it’s not:

  • Not learn-to-earn
  • Not a governance token (yet — V2 would be decided by V1 holders)
  • Not designed to be traded
  • Explicitly designed to be outgrown by whatever the community builds next

What I’m most excited about:

As I mentioned above, this is a prototype, not a product. My goal is to validate a concept, use feedback to improve the idea, and give people a permanent record of their contributions to that process. If this thing ever gets to a “V1” release, it will be thanks to the people who gave feedback along the way. And they’ll have the on-chain proof to show it. The whole process happens in public.

Because of the way the Andamio Protocol works, 100,000 XP tokens will generate many multiples of XP across participants. Every person who earns XP gets their own credential, but then, the XP tokens circulate. The total reputation in the system grows with every contribution, even on a limited token supply.

What I’m looking for:

  • Try it: https://www.cardano-xp.io/
  • Give feedback on the app itself (yes, there’s an XP task for that — you earn XP for helping improve the thing that gives you XP)
  • If you build things on Cardano and want structured feedback from real users, reach out — I’ll set up a project for you
