The problem with a single company managing a streaming platform is that it could be bought.
It will most likely be bought, maybe by Google itself.
I am not sure if there are any decentralized streaming networks but that would have given him true independence. All this move has done, if I read it right, is to increase the value of the new platform for the shareholders of the company that manages/controls it.

I agree but it is getting people to think in this direction and raising the profile and awareness of both Crypto and decentralized networks.
