Bitbox 02 support for Glacier drop
I own a Bitbox 02 and have used this hardware wallet to stake Adalite Cardano in various stake pools. These stake pool addresses are also authorized for the Glacier drop of night tokens and are therefore original addresses.
I have now created a new wallet at Lace via the Trezor Safe 3 hardware wallet, which therefore does not yet have any transactions. This destination address is also authorized for the Glacier drop of night tokens.
At the end of the entire process, however, the Glacier drop process requires a
cryptographic signature by the claimant at the end of the entire process in order to prove ownership of the source address and to finalize the claim.
Unfortunately, this cryptographic signature, which should actually be generated, is not displayed.
What can be done so that the Glacier drop process can be carried out successfully?

https://nu.fi/ supports the Bitbox 02 and has an internal wizard for the airdrop:

Same company behind it as Adalite. In fact, they try for ages to migrate the Adalite users over to Nufi.
So, Bitbox doesn’t have message signing. Tough.
Chances that you have to get this working:
- Nufi implements the null transaction signing alternative to message signing. You would need to contact them for that.
- Bitbox implements message signing in a couple of days (unlikely) and Nufi also manages to integrate it in time.
- Since the claim portal https://claim.midnight.gd/ does not support any wallet app that has Bitbox integrated (as far as I know, only Adalite and Nufi have it at all), can Nufi maybe pretend to be Eternl, connect to the claim portal and do the null transaction signature at the end?
I have asked ChatGPT whether it is possible to clone the Bitbox 02 to a Ledger Nano S Plus, so that I can then complete the signing via the Ledger instead of the Bitbox 02.
Could this work?
ChatGPT:
- snapshot was wallet-based, not device-based
- The decisive factor is the wallet address that ADA had staked during the snapshot (11 July 2025).
- Whether you operated it with a BitBox02, a ledger or directly via Nufi does not matter - as long as it is the same address.
⸻
- claim process for Midnight
- The airdrop claim requires a signature (CIP-8) to prove that you own the address.
- Nufi/Waltz (the backend of AdaLite) supports this message signing.
- However, BitBox02 cannot (yet) perform this special signature. → This is the bottleneck.
⸻
- possible workaround with Ledger Nano S Plus
As the wallets are BIP39-compatible, you can:
I have asked ChatGPT whether it is possible to clone the Bitbox 02 to a Ledger Nano S Plus, so that I can then complete the signing via the Ledger instead of the Bitbox 02.
Could this work?
ChatGPT
- import the seed of the BitBox02 to the Ledger Nano S Plus.
- you have exactly the same Nufi wallet (because seed = key).
- the ledger (after the fix with the “zero transaction”) can perform the necessary CIP-8 signing.
- you can use it to finalise the claim - even though the coins were originally staked with the BitBox02.
Yes, restoring on a Ledger could work if you have one lying around.
The rest of ChatGPT’s text is rather gibberish … as always with that useless waste of resources.
I have ordered another Ledger Nano S PLus. It will probably arrive today.
It’s just a general pity that the Glacier drop is so complicated in combination with hardware wallets.
Is one of the professionals here in the forum able to explain to me step by step how I can clone my Bitbox 02 hardware wallet, which I used to create wallets in Adalite/Nufi, in Lace as a restored wallet with a Ledger Nano S Plus? I’m really a bit worried that I’m doing something wrong? But I really want to set up a hardware wallet in Lace as well.
However, I believe that this is the only way for me to be able to participate in the Glacier drop, as the Bitbox 02 is unfortunately not supported by Midnight in any way.

Hello @Maddison1,
Thank you for your quick reply.
Does that mean that I could then complete the Glacier drop with the Ledger Nano S Plus?
Do you see any danger in doing this that I don’t see because I don’t have enough experience with such a process?
Greetings
Fredo
Hello @Maddison1,
this is really good news. I’ve been looking for a solution to my problem with the Bitbox 02 over the last few weeks, because unfortunately the Glacier team doesn’t support this hardware wallet. I assume that you don’t see any danger for me if I set up the new ledger with the same seed phrase as the Bitbox 02. I hope that it will then really work.
Best regards
Fredo
@Fredo please ignore the messages above from @Maddison1 as he was a scammer.
To add:
Reasons to be cautious here:
- Joined just a couple of days ago and has no official roles, but already uses a pseudo-official pseudo-support tone.
- Stock photo of generic friendly guy as profile picture.
- Tries to link/lure to a telegram channel that is itself highly suspicious, almost certainly scam.
