Blockchain Education Masterclass Meetup Series 2026: Episode 1

Following the resounding success of the Cardano Summit CLE-2026 held on February 7th in Nalerigu, North East Region, Ghana (full report here: Cardano Summit CLE-2026, Ghana Updates), we witnessed inspiring enthusiasm from several new attendees.

Among the participants were a group of final-year students from the Health Information Department at the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Nalerigu. These bright young minds were completely new to blockchain concepts—what it entails, its underlying principles, and especially its potential real-world applications in healthcare, data management, secure patient records, supply chain for medical resources, and more.

Their genuine curiosity and eagerness to learn about blockchain and the broader Cardano ecosystem stood out immediately. They asked thoughtful questions during sessions and expressed strong interest in exploring how decentralized technologies could transform health information systems in Ghana and across Africa.

Motivated by this energy, my team at CTEIL (Center for Technology Education and Innovation Lab) and I quickly organized a dedicated Blockchain Education Masterclass series tailored for them. The program will run over several weeks and aims to equip these students with foundational knowledge and practical skills. In our kick off session on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026 at 7:30 PM UTC at the CTEIL Hub in Nalerigu, we covered the following topics:

  • Overview of blockchain and cryptocurrencies
  • Why Blockchain Matters in Healthcare
  • Cardano overview and its use cases
  • Introduction to Wallets & Cardano Native Wallets
  • How to set up an native cardano wallet (Yoroi)

Attendance: 12 enthusiastic final-year students turned up, fully engaged throughout the interactive session. We aren’t able to admit more than 15 participants in our hub because of its limited size and space. So these sessions will be run in sessions to help cater for all the interested participants. The vibe was excellent—lots of questions, great discussions, and clear excitement to continue the journey.

This masterclass is just the beginning. We plan to build on this momentum with more sessions, hands-on practical exercises (e.g., wallet setup, basic transactions, and exploring Cardano tools), and even small group discussions or mini-projects linking blockchain ideas to real health information management challenges.

Huge shoutout to these students for showing up and diving in headfirst—proof that grassroots education and curiosity are powerful drivers of adoption in our community.

Stay tuned for updates on future sessions.
