Cardano Builder Meetup Online #5 – 12/04/2025 – Recap

Event Information

Cardano Builder Meetup Online #5 was held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM (GMT+7) via Zoom.

This session continued the deep dive into Lucid, the JavaScript library that helps developers build with Cardano more efficiently. As part of the Beginner Developer Training Series by Cardano Vietnam, the event focused on helping builders practice and apply Lucid through hands-on examples.

Main Topics of the Session

After introducing Lucid in Meetup #4, this session advanced further into practical applications, providing more complex use cases and reinforcing foundational understanding.

:one: Lucid Setup & Key Functions Recap

  • Reviewed Lucid setup and project initialization
  • Revisited how to connect Lucid with the Cardano network and load wallet from private key

:two: Interacting with Cardano via Lucid

  • Demonstrated how to send ADA and tokens using Lucid
  • Showed how to include metadata in a transaction
  • Introduced the use of datum and data scripts in preparation for working with smart contracts

:three: Deeper Look into Lucid’s Capabilities

  • Explored how Lucid helps abstract complex Cardano logic into simpler JavaScript functions
  • Participants got to see how Lucid enables custom scripts, transaction building, and serialization

Q&A Highlights

The live Q&A segment encouraged learners to explore how Lucid can be applied in real-world Cardano dApp development.

Questions:

  • What’s the difference between using Lucid and Cardano CLI when sending transactions?
  • Can Lucid be used to mint NFTs or native tokens? If so, how?
  • Is it possible to interact with smart contracts using Lucid?
  • How do we safely manage private keys in a frontend Lucid-based application?
  • What is the best way to test Lucid code on testnet before going live?
  • Can Lucid be integrated with popular frontend frameworks like React or Next.js?

These questions showed participants are beginning to think like builders β€” looking for ways to combine Lucid with real application needs.

Community Learning & Interaction

The meetup maintained a collaborative atmosphere. Builders shared their screen, tried code samples, and gave feedback in real time.
Participants appreciated seeing Lucid in action and asked for more structured exercises to try between sessions.

The Telegram group remained active after the meetup, with builders continuing to share links, debug issues, and ask follow-up questions.

Thanks

Cardano Builder Meetup Online #5 helped participants build stronger familiarity with Lucid and how to apply it for building dApps on Cardano.

Thank you to everyone who joined and participated in the discussion. Let’s keep moving forward together as a builder community!
