Daedalus Wallet Password -- Does it encrypt the wallet in the blockchain?

#1

Not sure if the title makes sense however:

Does the password for the wallet add an extra layer of protection should someone acquire my 12 word wallet phrase?

Not really, but if somebody tried to get the private key (the key that is directly generated from your mnemonic and the source of all subsequent addresses of your wallet) which is stored on your PC, it would be encrypted by your wallet password.

Disclaimer: I’m not official Cardano support so maybe I’m wrong

No

That password lives on your machine only, not on the blockchain, it is a local safety feature to send value out that’s all.

If you ever have to restore your wallet, poof goes your computer, any passwords you had as well as wallet name(s) will have to be recreated.

Did this clear it up?
