Day 2 of the Cardano Constitutional Convention in Nairobi will go down in history. From passionate debates to groundbreaking decisions, today was all about action and advancing decentralized governance. Here’s how the day unfolded.

Reviewing the Final Draft

The proceedings began with delegates diving into the updated draft Constitution. Some wording in the draft sparked passionate debates as delegates worked to perfect every detail.

One standout moment came from Mohammed, the delegate for Tamale, Ghana. He made an impassioned plea for accessibility, calling for a Constitution that could be understood by the deaf and blind. His words struck a chord, highlighting the importance of inclusivity in this historic process.

After clarifications and reviews, the stage was set.

Leadership Aspirations

Attention then turned to the future leaders of the Constitutional Committee. Delegates had the opportunity to stake their claims for the roles of Chair and Vice Chair.

In Nairobi, Maureen from Cameroon, Ubio from Nigeria, and Nathan from the Philippines stepped forward. Nathan added a lighthearted touch, joking that peer pressure led him to volunteer, though he expressed admiration for Ubio as a strong candidate for Chair. This discussion injected excitement and anticipation for the next phase of leadership.

Charles Hoskinson’s AMA and Inspiring Speech

During the dinner break, Charles Hoskinson hosted an AMA session that gave participants a chance to ask burning questions. Charles didn’t disappoint, offering insights, clarifications, and encouragement that left everyone energized.

Later in the evening, Charles delivered an emotional speech, thanking the delegates for their hard work and dedication. He reminded everyone that their efforts were bringing his dream for Cardano to life, emphasizing the significance of their work for the broader blockchain ecosystem.

A Defining Moment

The much-anticipated voting process could then kick off. Delegates followed a four-step process:

:one: connecting their voting wallets to the voting app
:two: a three-minute voting window opening to cast votes
:three: delegates declaring how they voted
:four: announcing the results

The vote asked a monumental question: should the Constitution move forward to the on-chain process?

An overwhelming majority voted ‘YES!’ This decisive moment was greeted with cheers and a collective sense of accomplishment, cementing Day 2 as a historic day for Cardano governance.

A Historic Moment

The delegates’ vote marked a watershed moment for Cardano. It was a celebration of the collective effort, rigorous debates, and shared vision that made this achievement possible.

With so many wonderful moments, it’s hard not to consider every shared image and video a highlight, and it’s even harder to fit them all here. I’ve tried to retweet as many moments as possible and I’ll continue to do so once this wrap-up goes live. Check out my retweets here.

And remember: the future is on-chain, and it’s bright.
