Call to Action: All Cardano Node Users Encouraged to Upgrade to Node Version 10.1.4

On Friday, 17 January 2025, the SPO approval threshold of 51% for the Plomin hard fork governance action was met. The next step is the positive assessment of the action’s constitutionality by the Interim Constitutional Committee (iCC).

The governance action must secure the required ⅔ approval from the iCC by the end of epoch 535 (25 January 2025). It is therefore crucial that all Cardano node users—especially SPOs—upgrade to version 10.1.4 to ensure readiness.

As of now, 85% of blocks in the current epoch are being produced using version 10.1.4. This update introduces critical safeguards at the mempool level to address a potential DoS attack risk following the hard fork.

What You Need to Know:

  • After the Plomin hard fork, v9 pools will no longer produce blocks.
  • Pools running the latest v10.1.4 node release will help keep the network stable and operational.

Current status of the iCC voting:

For the governance action to be enacted, assuming that all iCC members vote, 5 of the 7 iCC votes must vote Yes, with the constitutional threshold set at 66.7%. As of writing, IOG and the Cardano Japan Council have voted Yes. Source
