Call To Action: SPOs to Vote on Hard Fork Initiation (“Plomin” Hard Fork)

Attention SPOs: The ongoing Governance Action Type: Hard Fork Initiation for the Plomin Hard Fork has not yet reached the required threshold of 51% votes by stake weight.

Source: adastat.net

83.13% of total ada staked has not yet voted

At the time of writing, 83.13% of the total ADA staked has not yet cast their votes. In order for the Plomin Hard Fork to move forward, 51%+ of the delegated stake needs to vote, either Yes (to approve the Plomin Hard Fork) or No (to reject it). Your vote, as SPO, is essential in reaching the required threshold.

What’s the Plomin Hard Fork All About?

The Plomin Hard Fork is a major upgrade to the Cardano mainnet, advancing governance and technical capabilities by implementing Protocol Version 10.

Here’s what it brings:

  1. Full CIP-1694 Governance: Enables all seven governance actions, with voting rights for DReps, SPOs, and the Constitutional Committee.

  2. Staking Rewards Update: Rewards will accumulate as usual but can only be withdrawn after delegating to a DRep (including abstain/no-confidence options).

  3. Plutus Enhancements: Introduces new primitives for more advanced smart contracts.

How can you as an ada holder or delegator get involved:

As an ADA holder or delegator, you can actively participate in Cardano governance in several ways:

  1. Delegate to a DRep
Delegate your stake to a trusted Delegated Representative (DRep), who will vote on your behalf in governance actions.
  2. Become a DRep (more info on how to become a DRep)
  3. Know your SPOs: As SPOs and DReps are now responsible for voting on governance actions, it’s essential to understand how the SPOs you delegate your ADA to are voting.Join an Intersect Working Group
Collaborate with others by joining an Intersect working group, where you can contribute to governance, technical development, and special interest initiatives.

As far as I know, DReps do not vote in this specific Hard Fork Initiation (Plomin HF). Please amend the text:

This action requires unanimous approval from all three roles (SPOs, DReps and CC). A prerequisite for this action is the upgrade of the node version by the SPOs.

Quote from CIP-1694:

Hard-Fork initiation on “Hard fork initiation”:

Regardless of any governance mechanism, SPO participation is needed for any hard fork since they must upgrade their node software. For this reason, we make their cooperation explicit in the hard fork initiation governance action, by always requiring their vote. The constitutional committee also votes, signaling the constitutionality of a hard fork. The DReps also vote, to represent the will of every stake holder.

The DReps will be able to vote after this hard fork upgrade. Before Plomin HF, DReps can only vote for “Info Actions”. So what you wrote, is generally true but not implemented yet.
