3rd Governance Info Action Now Live: DReps, SPOs and ICC Members Encouraged to Cast Their Vote
On 11 October, Cardano’s 3rd Info-Governance Action was submitted by Atrium Lab. This Info Action aims to gauge the community’s opinion on the following question:
“Should K be increased?”
Why is the K parameter important?
The K parameter in Cardano promotes decentralization by setting the desired number of optimal stake pools. Currently set at 500, it allows 500 pools to be fully saturated with around 74.5 million ada each. Saturation maximizes rewards, but oversaturation reduces them, encouraging delegators to move their stake to other pools, maintaining decentralization.
If K is increased to 1000, the saturation point would halve, potentially creating more pools and enhancing decentralization. However, K doesn’t limit the number of pools that can mint blocks; overall delegation primarily determines that.
This governance Info Action aims to increase community engagement before the upcoming hard fork.
All DReps, SPOs and ICC members are invited to cast their vote on this Info Action. Find link here.
