TL;DR: A text interface is a powerful as the CLI, you can actually edit transactions instead of using the CLI to construct them.
The cardano-cli is cumbersome as transaction complexity grows. Using shell scripts improves your options, yet the language is not so convenient, and you are still limited to the command line workflow. It is one-dimensional, you have to mark linebreaks, and quote or escape things and you win little on readability.
I wasn’t happy about that and started building a better tool. Have a look at my 3min prototype demo.
