Exchange question

Hi guys, this may be a very newbie question, but can someone tell me why there is such a disparity between the Mkt cap between CoinGecko & CoinMarketcap. At the moment the difference is roughly $686 mil?

It is calculated by multiplying the price of a stock by its total number of outstanding shares, keeping this in mind when I say it is to do with the arbitration and propagation :vulcan_salute:

Also it has to do with the amount of shares that the original distributed to Cardano, IOHK, and Emurgo. In total something over 2 billion coins if I’m not mistaken. Those amounts are not known to the public as some of the funds surely have been spent. This throws off the market cap numbers from exact to a guesstimate.

Someone please correct me if I’m off on this but this is my understanding.

Hi there, I also see there is a difference in the amount considered as “outstanding shares” between the two sites.
I found this that could explain the difference:
there are some ADAs being destroyed (burnt):

Since the links are broken I provide this as reference of the amount of Fees that may have been burnt. there is no total, though.
