I had Ada stolen from my Yoroi wallet yesterday morning, I went on to check my staking rewards and they were the only Ada left in my wallet… My 500 Ada just disappeared overnight Nothing short of gut wrenching as my seed phrases were stored on pieces of paper in my safe at home that nobody has access to.
I had a same thing happen few days ago. I moved ADA to a yoroi wallet and staked it to a DND pool. " days later my funds were moved from my wallet. I don’t know how it was possible since they needed to have my spending password! And I always keep my passwords outside my laptop, so…
It is technically impossible for the staking pool to steal your ADA, you just tell them your public address. Can you post the spending password (after you changed it of course) ? Where did you write it down, and where your recovery passphrase? And on which device did you use the wallet (PC, Android etc.) ? Is it possible that other people have access to these devices?
Better answer here, others might help then, too. And I didn’t ask for something that is security critical and which you could only send in a private message. And if it is, like you use the same password for every service, or you wrote it on a post-it sticker and stick it on your monitor, then you should change it anyway
I used the yoroi wallet on chrome browser on my laptop. None of my passwords are on my computer or on my mobile, but stored on an external hard drive that is/was not connected to my laptop. My mistake was that I didn’t do everything with ledger, but I’m telling the truth. Nobody had physicaly access to my computer. This was the transaction when my funds were stolen: Transaction 282b32eced756b6e6689ae64018933ddb19038bec7e2d596d0b8f6388ec1c75a - Cardanoscan
On a laptop, most probably it was some kind of malware. For example 30% of all computers in the US is infected with some kind of malware:
Not every malware scans for ADA wallets, and not every computer with an ADA wallet is infected, but all ADA in the maybe small overlapping set (malware which scans for ADA, and an ADA wallet on the computer) will be stolen. I would guess this could be thousands.
Same here nothing electronic…I saw the balance reappear for 30 minutes…and then gone. The ADA IS being moved and IS in a backdoor job…I have Mal protection, and firewalls, and I was on holiday without the laptop when it happened…ADA is hack-able and Yoroi…its a backdoor job
I wonder if there’s some confusion about what aspects of a wallet are critical to protecting. Primarily, your seed. Having your spending password only impacts you if someone has physical access or remote access to the device where the spending password is configured. If you have Yoroi on chrome with a spending password and your laptop is off, and bam, your funds get withdrawn while your laptop is off or offline, then the spending password is not what the hacker got, it’s the seed or private key.
Storing your seed in a note on a computer that has online access is going to expose you to this risk.
Thats a valid point. On the day of the transactions i was in another country, laptop was not with me or on. This is feom inside. How were the transactions cancelled and then reset? I relied on yoroi. My seed phrase is hand written only, not even a pic on the mobile. All passcodes are @ or # or * out…. But the ADA still went missing
I believe ADA is hackable…. Approximately 400,000 ADA have passed through my wallet…. I dont have that many. Tracking the addresses for the rewards, they seem to go into a loop between the stake pool and my address…. Back to each other…. The pointers are screwed…. No one seems to know how this works…
Wow. This is very concerning. I wonder if there is any crypto that is actually completely secure. I don’t know if I’m going to reinvest in this or not.
