I have been attempting to purchase ADA and have my Daedalus wallet receive the coins, but to no success. No matter what receive address i paste in, it is not accepted saying its an invalid address.
Any help is appreciated.

From which exchange are u trying to send ADA?
My guess is that the exchange doesn’t support shelley and u will need a byron adress… install yoroi chrome extension, create a byron wallet and try to send few ada to the yoroi byron address… then from byron send to daedalus shelley.
Try with a small amount first time
