Whats the difference between an “account” and an “address” within the same wallet?

do I need an “account” to have an address? or vice versa? are they independent of each other?

Within Daedalus and Yoroi when you create a wallet you create an account. The various addresses are combined within the account to show you the total amount of Ada you hold. The wallet automatically creates a new address when you send Ada and you can manually create a new address when you receive Ada. This makes it harder for someone to trace Ada in and out of a particular account. I believe in the future you will be able to hold multiple accounts in one wallet. If I have any of that wrong someone please correct me.
