Which pool should I choose?

Hi,
Can anyone explain which pool will give me more ada per epoch?
one has ROA of 4.89% and costs 0% The other 2.5% and 3% costs.

Are there unsafe pools that can jsut take my ada? Why would burn burn pool give you almost 5% and 0% cost Thank you

In this case, the first one – BURN – may give you more rewards on average.

The ROA already includes the effects of everything else and gives you an estimate of returns delegators of that pool had over the last X epochs. Those returns are annualised! You definitely do not get 4.x% every five days, far less than that. It just says: If the pool continues to do what it has done in the last X epochs, delegators will get 4.x% per year.

It is quite plausible that a pool with more pledge and less margin will give more rewards, but that pool has quite low overall stake (400k). So, it will not get assigned a block every epoch, you won’t get rewards every epoch, but only from time to time. 400k is not that low, though. Should still give rewards every second or third epoch on average.

The 170 ADA mentioned at all of the pools are the fixed pool cost. That is subtracted from the rewards before they are divided among the delegators. They make up a much larger share if a pool only makes one or two blocks than if a pool makes dozens of blocks. This might be one reason why BURN has decided to set their margin to 0: To still be competitive enough with other pools. They still get the 170 ADA pool cost (if they produce a block in that epoch) and they still get the rewards for their 200 kADA pledge, so it’s not that they get nothing.

The ROA is also far from a guarantee that you will also get that in the future. It is a statistics about the past. It might include a particularly lucky streak, it might include epochs where the pool had much more stake, they might change their margin or pool cost in the future, …

No, that’s just impossible. Your ADA do not even leave your wallet. You can spend them or add more at any time.

Not even the rewards are sent by the pools. They are calculated and distributed by the protocol itself. The only thing the pools do is producing blocks (that they get assigned based on the stake of their delegators). If they fail to do that, the worst thing that can happen is that you do not get rewards.
