I traded some wmt tokes this summer and added them to a liquiditypool on minswap what now says ‘inactive’… wmt appearantly made a new version called wmtx and has a migrationtool, but I can’t use it because it says I need a nonmobile browser and I’m out and about and wont see a trusted desktop for a couple of months, what to do?
“The migration portal will open on 30.09.2024 at 11.00 UTC and close on 21.10.2024 at 11.00 UTC.”
well well, allready closed…
Hello @Klaffin
Theoretically, if there is a liquidity pool, then you can just sell your WMT for ADA and wait until you get back to buy more WMTX for new pool.
Hmm, I try to “withdraw all” from the pool but i only get this error “Insufficient balance”
If you are unable to do anything, then just contact official Minswap and/or WMT.
You know where Minswap website is already.
Here you can check out official WMT FAQ page for contacts.
…and remember. If any of the fake tech support accounts try to contact/ DM you or ask for your passphrase instantly block them.
There are indeed a lot of postings and email from scammers offering users “help” about missing the migration deadline. The migration portal link whose content you already quote above (which can be verified on the real WMT Discord [verified on their web site] in the section Migration Hub) has a link to contact support:
and I think at this point email support would be required to help you, since you’d never get anything but a fire-sale price on DEXes for the obsolete token.
I could swap them on minswap still, the rate was actually sliiigthly better than 1:1 even :o I kept a couple too, who knows, maybe they become a rarity ;p
I’d like to mention tho that I’m quite critical of worldmobile for issuing an upgraded clone of their token and then saying “Here’s a three week window for converting your tokens into the new one and after it’s up to the market to decide what your old, now defunct and non-utilitarian tokens are worth”
The window was a bit short, but they didn’t say “up to the market” and you actually shouldn’t try to trade the deprecated token somewhere.
Here’s what WMT themselves say about it:
https://faq.worldmobiletoken.com/docs/faq-and-support/token-migration/general-information-on-the-token-migration
“The migration portal will open on 30.09.2024 at 11.00 UTC and close on 21.10.2024 at 11.00 UTC.”
seems to be about three weeks to me, aand;
" Will WMTx maintain a 1:1 value with WMT?
Initially, WMTx will have a 1:1 conversion rate with WMT, but market conditions will determine the value afterward."
straight from the horses mouth… same faq just further along… General information on the Token Migration | World Mobile Token Docs
and isnt it up to me to decide what to do with my ‘legally’ traded tokens, I at least thought I was the custodian? Isnt that the point? Selfcustody? Do with it what you wish?
I never said anything else:
Well, they do offer to still migrate 1:1 after the deadline:
So, there is absolutely no need to rely on those market conditions.
Yep, sorry, “shouldn’t” was too strong. Do whatever you like. I wouldn’t try to trade a dead token in pools with low liquidity if they do still offer to migrate it to the new legitimate token. But do whatever you like. It’s a free world.
Fair enough…
FYI everybody (and maybe @HeptaSean would want to retitle this thread WMTx Migration
to help others in the Cardano community find it): The Migration Portal for the obsolete Cardano token is reopening again on 16 December:
For those who missed the initial migration, you will have another opportunity to migrate your WMT to WMTx. The portal will reopen on December 16, 2024, and remain open indefinitely, allowing you to migrate your WMT, on Cardano, at your convenience.
Please note: While the Portal will remain open indefinitely, from December 16, we will provide clear notice before it is closed for the final time. We encourage you to complete your migration as soon as possible to avoid complications.
The official link to the Migration Portal (same as before) is on this page & in other places on the WMTx GitBook.
Bravo! This perplexes me a little however: "
While the Portal will remain open indefinitely, from December 16, we will provide clear notice before it is closed for the final time."
what am I missing? because that scentence clearly says two opposite things!
“Indefinitely” does not mean “forever”, it just means “not defined yet”.
They might close it when it is really not needed anymore. And they promise to announce that in time.
